| Please realize that just
because something is "natural" that does not make it safe! Proceed with all
remedies with care and caution. Check the Herbal Index for any warnings associated with the herbs you are using. Also, be aware that this list is by no means complete, check other sources also for herb safety. Know your plants!!!! Be very sure that you have identified your plants correctly. When in doubt, check with an expert. Always use the Latin names of your plants so they are not confused with similar common names. Use caution before treating a child with any internal remedy and use the children's dosing chart below. Use home remedies for common, short term complaints only. For persistant problems, please seek professional help. Do not ingest large amounts of any home remedy. Let your doctor know what you are considering in the way of self treatment if you have any serious long term health condition. Do not substitute traditional prescribed medication with home remedies until you consult with your doctor. Never ingest essential oils. For remedies intended for external use you may want to perform a patch test before treatment. Dab a bit of the substance on the inner arm and watch for 24 hours for any allergic reaction. Don't dilute tinctures or essential oils and use them as infusions, you may get too high a dose! When makind infusions, decoctions and other heated mixtures do not use metal pans. Use heat resistant glass such as pyrex instead. |
