THOUGHTS OF MISS TEEN USA

2007

Will this be Miss Teen USA's last year on NBC? That rumor has been circulating but we hope the tables will somehow be turned. The race is on to see who will capture the crown. I wonder...I wonder who's hot tonight!
As always, here comes my list of predictions.

FINAL PREDICTIONS:

Winner=New Jersey-Alyssa Campanella

New Jersey has comfortably been the most controversial state in pageantry this year. First, the original winner of Miss New Jersey USA, Ashley Harder resigned since she became pregnant. Then, Miss New Jersey America received some press attention when some casual photos of her in some controversial poses surfaced that almost led to her losing her crown. But then there is Alyssa who seems to be the girl who can redeem New Jersey and become their savior by giving such a powerful performance at Miss Teen USA. Alyssa seems to be the distinctive standout due to her unique red hair, her lighter skin tone, great smile and fit body and stunning gown. She also reminds me a bit of actress Marcia Cross.

1st Runner Up=South Carolina-Caitlin Upton

All around a very strong contestant. Caitlin reminds me facially of Brooke Burns who was a host at Miss Teen USA 2003. She has a great body, gorgeous blonde hair and a nice gown and she could very well take it all.

2nd Runner Up=North Carolina-Katie Coble

Katie definitely looks the part. Her look is very refreshing and very teen particularly with the cotton candy gown.

3rd Runner Up=Texas-Sommer Isdale

Could Texas be denied a spot in the semis for a third year in a row?? Heaven forbid!! Sommer presents superbly with that awesome body, hair and demeanor. The gown is certainly unique. A lot of people aren't sure of the color but Sommer carries it off quite well.

4th Runner Up=Georgia-Jena Sims

This girl clearly wants it and she is going to work it as much as she can. She has a great body, gown and overall look. She reminds a bit of Christie Lee Woods, Miss Teen USA 1996 with a southern accent. The gown is very similar to one that Miss USA, Rachel Smith wore at Miss Universe.

Her style is very distinct and she gives off a Michelle Attai vibe and almost Oprah Winfrey-ish too. Tennessee is known to send strong competitors and Maci is no exception.

Kentucky-Katrina Giannini

Kentucky also sends very strong teen competitors and Katrina looks like she has done everything well. Body's looking good and the gown has more of a teen feel that many of the other gowns this year.

Missouri-Lauren Peterson

Missouri looks good with the long blonde hair and the bold red gown looks very distinct. Her look is also very fresh and I'd like to see her do well.

Kansas-Jaymie Stokes

This one was a bit of a surprise for me but I really like her gown and the body is really good too so Jaymie certainly could do it.

Idaho-Krista McNeal

I loved this girl's Fadil headshot. The gown not so much but she seems to carry it off well similarly to Nevada's Helen Salas at Miss USA this year. Her body is also decent. She seems a bit quirky and upbeat and that normally goes well at Teen.

SEMIFINALISTS

California-Kylee Lin

I almost didn't include her but at the last minute I decided to throw her in because she's more diverse and teen looking. She seems to have a bit of a fun-loving nature and her gown and body are okay.

Louisiana-Logan Travis

Logan has clearly modelled herself after Shelley Hennig, Miss Teen USA 2004 and it just may work in her favor. She appears to have given a formidable presentation.

Colorado-Hilary Cruz

Hilary looks a little more 'Miss' than 'Teen' but regardless, I think she looks great in terms of body, gown and overall appearance.

Oregon-Whitney Whitehouse

Oregon has captured 3 Miss Teen USA crowns which is more than any other state and Whitney looks like she wants to bring another to Oregon. However, Oregon's placements in the semifinals tend to be more sporadic. Whitney's performance looks to be of a high calibre.

Florida-Annilie Hastey

Annilie reminds me of Miss Teen USA 1986, Allison Brown. Her look is pleasant and although her gown seems to have brought mixed reactions, I think she can do it.

FIVE ALTERNATES

Mississippi-Anne Elise Parks

She seems to have given a strong performance and other people seem to like her and at the last minute, I decided to make her an alternate. Just an instinct, I guess.

Virginia-Emily Bruce

This is another one that was on the list at one point but ended up becoming an alternate. Her body and gown while decent don't seem quite strong enough and I sense a bit of desperation in the face.

Illinois-Victoria Davis

Love the gown and the body's okay. I wasn't expecting her but she was noticed and has a very good chance of making it.

West Virginia-Chelsea Welch

Body and gown are quite decent. She could be up there too.

Alabama-Canden Jackson

I like her gown. It's very much like Kansas in terms of the style. She's another that was in my list at one point but I decided to make her alternate but she's a good possibility.

FIVE HONORABLE MENTIONS

Wisconsin-Shauna Sabir

I like her uniqueness and her gown is really nice too. She might make it and I would be quite happy if she does but there's a bit of doubt there.

Oklahoma-Paige Hill

I think she's nice and has a look reminiscent of Miss Teen USA 1991, Janel Bishop but Paige is perhaps a bit too thin and the gown is a bit unusual.

Minnesota-Vanessa Vonbehren

She looks good in body and gown but somehow doesn't seem strong enough but you never know.

Washington-Shalane Larango

Very sweet and delicate. Her body looks a bit almost frail which made me place her here.

Rhode Island-Rochelle Rose

Rochelle stands out as perhaps the most tanned contestant but I liked her mannerisms in her presentation.

So now that you've seen these predictions, we all know that there will be surprise delegates that I have missed entirely. It always happens without fail. Others I have suspicions about are Maryland, Arizona, Alaska, Michigan and maybe even Maine.

It's going to be exciting on August 24!
