These shy wood ducks are rarely seen out in the open. They pair up for mating season to raise their family. The mother duck incubates her eggs which could be from 8 to 15 for about a month. Then nurtures her ducklings. Within 24 hours of hatching the mother calls to her young and they follow her to water. Woodies enjoy hollow trees from 4 to 60 feet above the ground.
