May 8, 1376 (The Year of the Bent Blade)
It has been some time since I
last wrote in this log. Much has happened, but I have been too preoccupied to set
it down here. Part of that comes from the new learning gained from our previous
adventures – there is so much to understand! Little by little, as I replay in
my mind all the things we have seen and experienced, my understanding grows,
and with it my power. Day by day I can feel my psionic abilities grow, and I
have recovered several spells that now fill the pages of my spellbook. Focusing
on learning all I can helps me to avoid another cause of my distraction – the
knowledge that I have not yet learned nearly enough to challenge Oahbe.
Recovering the Fiend’s Embrace and removing its power was a start, but I need
more – much more – to be assured that I will be able to defeat him.
After the conclusion of our quest to rescue Randal Morn, we
spent a week in Daggerdale, resting, relaxing, and generally enjoying the
fruits of our labors. I myself spent much time in research, improving both my
spellcasting and psionic abilities as much as I could on my own. Someday I hope
to find the time to spend learning from Elminster, but I know that must wait
until my own knowledge is great enough to properly appreciate the knowledge of
the great sage. I must confess that I paid little attention to what occupied my
companions during this time, until they interrupted my studies. Everyone is
anxious to see this keep that was now ours, and so tomorrow we will set out
from Daggerdale.

In the last week, we have made
a good start to reclaiming Quasqueton Keep. We’ve faced and defeated many foes
– ogres, a medusa, zombie minotaurs, and more. The keep contains many dangers
but just as many wonders. Everyone in the party has found something to their
liking. For the ranger, a bronze griffon statuette that can become a true
full-sized bronze griffon on command. For the rogue, a blade granting
spider-like deftness and abilities. For the monk, a belt enhancing his unarmed
fighting prowess many times over. For the dwarf, a mighty thundering axe. For
the cleric, a tome granting wisdom and experience in the ways of Lathlander.
And I myself have found a robe of power worthy of an archmagi.
So much has happened that we
have decided to return to Daggerdale for a short time, to rest and consolidate
our new possessions and knowledge. While the dangers of the keep so far have
been formidable, I cannot help but feel that we have yet to face the real
challenge awaiting us there. Best to prepare ourselves, to be ready to face
anything, as we continue deeper into Quasqueton Keep.
