The History of Omiata

Omiata was born in the northern region of the High Forest where the elves of good moral standing dwell. He was schooled in the customs and laws of the Moon Elves. He was the son of of the High Emmissary of Direwood, Gilderon. At the age of 105 his family set out on a mission of diplomacy to Chandalwood to strenghten the bond with the humans who were trusted allies against the darkness of the Forgotten Realms. While on their travels they set sail to cross over to the Dragon Coast where they were ambushed by pirates. The elves were valiant in their fight but overwhelmed. Their ship was slowly sinking from the onslaught of cannon fire. Omiata's father foreseeing their plight told his son to "Take to the shadows my son". His father turned with a smile and joined in the hopeless fray. The young elf heeded his fathers desire and moved out of sight to the pirate ship.

Once on the ship he loosed the life rafts and made his way to the now empty armory where he found explosives. Using flint and tinder he set a flame to a stack of dynamite and after diving off, he watched the black ship erupt into a series of explosions. The fate of the pirates was sealed and Omiata drifted towards the Dragon Coast.

Alone on the Dragon Coast

The elf quickly became a master of stealth and deadly strikes. Survival was his only goal living in solitude among mighty creatures. Playing tricks on dragons and learning their language was quite enjoyable to the elf. While exploring he happened upon a small settlement in the darkness. He snuck in to investigate, and not 20 steps into the small town he realized he was not moving alone. He turned and saw nobody but none the less was frozen in the dark. One by one shaded figures emerged from corners unseen to view. He had stumbled into a rogue commune. Quickly he was immoblized and taken into a hall where an old halfling named Meron Lightfoot fed him and gave him clothes. When asked his name Omiata was unwilling to share, so the villagers just called him The Owl. There he lived and learned the ways of the guild for 6 years.

On his eleventy-first birthday Meron called him to a council. It was agreed that The Owl needed to head out and explore the world for himself. He was instructed that word has come that Magistrate Aurus was in need of adventurers. So he packed what belongings he had and ventured to Waterdeep and set sail on the small ship Haptooth heading for Stillsquall. There he met several people and met many travelers. He got along with them very well even though a particular ranger smelled of desert dung and a cleric kept preaching some nonsensical babble. But he was excited and it now seemed Omiata has begun his professional life as a rogue.

Thus the story continues.
