Since the summer of 2005, more than 30,000 people have participated in the classes, workshops, and performances of McKinney Youth Theatre (MYT). Their students come from all over the North Texas area including Sherman, Celina, Prosper, Greenville, Plano, Allen, Melissa, Frisco, Princeton, Farmersville, Carrollton and Richardson. MYT is the largest theatre for youth in the area.
Each year MYT awards more than $10,000 in scholarships to participate in our programs and also provides year round free arts programming at Old Settler's Park in McKinney.
For the past two years MYT has received the highest grant available from the City of McKinney ; however, in order to continue meeting the growing demand for youth theatre, they are working to broaden the base of support.
Funds raised from the MYT on Broadway 2008 Gala will be used to provide student scholarships, cover operating costs, and start a fund towards an eventual permanent location for MYT in McKinney.
