*The Stranded Car*

On a dark highway, a young couple was driving down a part of it that was considered to be haunted by ghosts. This belief was propogated by the fact that no trees grew around this part of the highway, and even though the government would plant them annually, the trees would always be moved away, disappear, or be knocked down. the town council always said it was due to strong winds.

The newly-wed couple were traveling crosstown to see their relatives. They saw a car stalled on the sideway, a couple of passengers within, but not moving. It looked like a car accident, but there was no damage to the car. It looked suspicious, and though they had already passed the car by quite a bit, they stopped the car to see if they could help. the man got out of the car, and started walking back to the other car to see if he could help in any way or figure out what was wrong. his wife sat patiently in the car, tending to their young infant. before she knew it, a while had passed, and it was with a sudden astonishment that she realized her husband had been gone for quite a while and she had not noticed. she saw a flash of light from the back, and her heart skipped a beat--but after blinking, she saw it was a police patrol vehicle that was speeding towards her, and pulling up not behind her, but closeby to her side. She heard a thud. Something had hit the floor. Hard.

The policeman yelled: "get out of the car now, and don't look back!" There was such fear in his eyes, such urgency in his voice, she didn't think twice and ran to the vehicle. Behind her she heard a cackle. And then she saw her husband's head roll by her. She turned around. The police yelled: "Shit! Let's go!" She spun around. The police car was speeding off, leaving her behind. Behind her, hanging above the other car, was a pack of indiscribable evil beings tearing at her husband's headless body, devouring at his flesh that was flung like a puppet to the ground.

They looked at her. And smiled.
