Kia ora... g'day... bonjour... talofa... hi... konichiwa...

Well first of all my name is Jolene, i'm kiwi born and bred (Rotorua), but had the common sense to move to Australia nearly 4years ago(Feb 1998 & all by myself!).

I'm 23 years of age, a gemini, 5'3" and a size 12 (size 11 at Jeans West LOL).  I'm not overly large, but then i'm not as small as I would like to be (im about 57kg on a good day), I have blue eyes and a button nose and am blessed with olive skin (I just can't figure out where that came from though).

I have lived in Sydney (Cronulla, City & Kirribilli) for two years, lived in Adelaide briefly, and finally now I live in an inner city suburb of Brisbane (2 train stops from Central Station).

I work in Business Finance for an Australian finance company - the standard Monday to Friday crap, its pretty boring but its money in the bank and keeps me off the streets :-)

I have a passion for travel, even though I haven't really seen too much yet.  I recently returned from my second trip to the US, although this time I only went to New York and New Jersey and was there for only 13 days.  I also visited Vancouver & Toronto in Canada for a week, saw the Niagra falls, and spent 5 weeks in the gorgeous islands of the Cooks - 4 weeks (and 2 days) in Rarotonga and 5 days in Aitutaki (other wise known as Heaven on Earth).
I've already visited Los Angeles, St.Louis & Springfield in Missouri and New York.  Been to Disneyland & Universal Studios, up the Empire State Building & the World Trade Centre (twin towers).  I've walked all the way from 14th street in East Village, up along Broadway to Times Square, across to 5th Avenue up to Central Park and continuing on through the park (stopped and had a look at Cleopatra's Needle, watched a guy drawing cartoon pictures of people, watched a newly married couple pose for photographs beside a lake, and walked around Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservior) and out the top to Harlem, and across and up to 112th street in Morningside Heights.  I've twice visited the Cathedral of St. John the Devine (Im not religious, but this place is someplace special).  Ive also climbed up inside The Statue of Liberty - right up to her crown, and stood above the trading floor at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street.

One day I dream of visiting the UK, France, Germany, South America (go to Peru and do the Inca Trail), as well as Egypt, Africa and Nepal... and whatever beautiful remote tropical islands which call my name.

I go to New Zealand for a few days about twice a year (next trip Oct 12 - 16 2001), do the family catch up thing and all, and I try and make it down to both Melbourne and Sydney a few times a year.  (although admitably I try NOT to visit Melbourne coz its a shit hole).

What else can I tell you?

I love kids movies, I am a big kid myself!  I like children (in moderation and when you can give them back quickly).  I'd love to have kids one day, a boy and a girl would be nice.  I've even thought about a few names... but thats just the clucky side of me talking.

I drink occasionally, and I don't smoke.  I'm not the worlds most socialable person, I prefer my own company alot of the time, and spend a bit of time at home just pottering around, I hate night clubs and crowds with a passion (small intimate pubs are great though).  I love going away for weekends, up the coast down the coast ... anywhere away from the hussle & bussle of every day life.

I'm probably considered a woman of few words, I wouldnt say shy its just... oh I dunno... I talk when I want to and if I don't have anything to say I don't say anything.(unless you give me a computer and a spare sunday afternoon).  - I'm one of those ones you gotta watch out for ... quiet ones who sit and listen and take in all the information (just where it goes to I haven't figured out quite yet).

I don't have any political views (I don't vote so I don't worry about getting into politics).  I don't really have any religious beliefs, I do however believe that there is some 'higher force' looking after me, I believe in fate, I believe in Karma and I believe in love.

I'm not really a sporty person anymore, I use to be in my school years, I've played waterpolo, cricket, soccer, tennis and swam and ran competitively.  One day when I have more time, i'd like to get back into my swimming and tennis.  I love cycling and bush walking, camping and tramping (I'm a real outdoorsy kinda girl).  I especially love the beach, and hope one day I can have my 2 or 3 acres on the coast.

I love listening to music, especially classical on a early Sunday morning basking in the sun on my balcony, or on a Saturday evening when I am home alone (which isn't very often when you live with two other "homebodies" like myself), I wouldn't say I really keep up to date with 'todays' music.  I have a preference to listen to the music I grew up listening to:- Janis Ian - Roberta Flack - Paul Simon - Simply Red - Pink Floyd - Rickie Lee Jones - U2 - Dire Straits etc.  I would dearly love to be able to play classical piano one day (but I have tiny hands and don't know how to read music).
A few of my most favourite songs are "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx and "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel.  I also really love the song "Suddenly" by Angry Anderson - the first time I heard that song I kneew I wanted it played at my wedding.
Just switching the subject a little, a few of my favourite movies are:- Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Seven, Copycat, Casper, & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I'm not really a money orientainted person, my life does not revolve around money (I earn enough to live and do what I want to do).  I have no material assets to show for my efforts, but I have a world of experience in living - which I think is far more important.
I don't know what I want to be "when I grow up"... I still have alot of growing up to do before then.  I'm in no hurry!

I would eventually like to go to uni and learn bits and bobs, not really to get into a career, but just cause there are some sujects I would like to know just a bit more about (chemistry, biology, statistics, calculus, classical piano, psychology, criminology religion, law, history, geography, travel, finance, computers...)

Anyway, thats probably more than enough babble about me.

Cheers for now
