| The 9 Basic Components for a Ritual: Purification of One's Self In essences, it consists of bathing, anointing your body with oil, deep breathing, meditation, and otherwise purifying yourself for the up coming ritual. Or coarse there are other methods as: visualize a rush of wind go threw you and taking all your negative thoughts and emotions away, Use music, Drumming softly is a good way. You can also use other instruments such as bells, gongs, sis drums, guitars, violins and harps Purification of Space This is where you will be performing your ritual. Indoor purifications are a must. Due to the collection of "astral garbage" that we all accumulate threw the days. Outdoor purifications are rare, but if living in the city or near a heavy populated area I usually purify because of what I call lost energies others can omit from there self's Creating Sacred Space This consists of placing your Alter items and Alter table in the correct position depending on your beliefs. Most witches place it in the center of the "circle". You may also place it at the edge. I prefer center of circle and facing North. You could also face East. Invocation I consider this the heart of the witches ritual, and the only necessary part. This is spoken prayer that may take many forms. Such as music, dancing, jesters, songs and spoken prayer. As long as you are celebrating the Goddess and/or God. Ritual observance This follows the invocation. Changing each time for the Sabbets and Esbats. Remember not to be so serious while doing the ritual. Laughter is part of a ritual if you forget to light a candle or spill the salt just laugh and start over. The Pagan/Wiccan Deities don't know glum. Leave those thoughts behind you. This is a religion of peace, happiness and yes, even laughter. Energy Rising This is when the Magic accurse. This is when you do your spells and magical workings. But not always must you use magic. Pagan/Wiccan religion is not just magic. Its about believing in the goddess and god. Asking for them to give you strength and grant your requests. Earthing the Power This is when you have sent energies in the surrounding circle and they are just swirling around you. You are in a form of ecstasy. This should be earthed or smoothly put back in your normal energy scheme. This is usually achieved by eating or drinking something. Known more as Cakes and Ale. Make sure prior to eating you make an offer to the goddess and god. You could also taste a bit of salt and scatter it around the circle. Thanking the Goddess and God Basic enough. Thank them for their attendance and presence at your circle, and Thank them for Their attention and ask if They would come again. Make sure you never ask them to leave as if they would listen, and its considered rude. Breaking the Circle This is at the end of the ritual when you need to break the circle. There are plenty of methods and it just depends on the method you used to cast your circle. I personally use the sword method. This is when I stab the circle facing North them walk backwards as if rewind time before I casted the circle. I visualize the energy being sucked into the sword. Then when I get back to facing North I take the Sword and pierce it into the ground and release the energies back in to the Earth. |
