Okay, I'm a little high maintenance
Bargain Hunter
guess I have some 'splainin to do...
I love fashion, and I love shopping.  I don't like paying full price for things, but really who does?  I'll fess up to some splurges, but in reality, I spend a lot of time scouring the internet, local boutiques, vintage stores and outlets for bargains.  I have friends who travel overseas, and they're able to purchase stuff for me at a fraction of their cost here.  I also bide my time, and wait for yearly sales.  I guess you could call it a hobby.  Here are my tips:

-Everyone knows about the after-Christmas sales.  Most of the bargains you'll find here are either from things that people have returned, or Christmas tchotkes.  Towards the end of January (which is the slowest time of the year for retail), retailers want to get all the winter stuff out of their stores to make room for the spring/summer stuff - there's usually another markdown after the "after Christmas" sales

- Vintage/consignment - these are usually hit or miss.  If you go to a consignment store in a ritzy neighborhood, you can sometimes find great deals on designer stuff that's in pretty good condition.  Hey, someone in those neighborhoods must've gotten caught for tax fraud.

- Internet - if you sign up for a mailing list, you'll be flooded with emails, but some might be helpful, in terms of letting you know that a sale is taking place, or in offering discounts with a minimum purchase.  There's also websites that list coupons and rebates.  Also, if you know there's a sale online, chances are, the local store (if there is one) will have better deals.

-Travelling overseas - If you're looking for stuff that's imported (French, Japanese, Italian), it's usually a lot cheaper wherever they came from.  Petit Bateau t-shirts cost something like $30 here (ack!), but approximately $10 in Paris.  So if you've got a friend who asks if he can bring anything back for you from Italy, make your list, but be specific, and courteous of luggage space.  Food and wine can be confiscated by customs, but not clothes!

Outlet Stores - These don't have as good deals as they used to.  Also, the ones on the East Coast tend to have better deals.  There are a few boutique outlets in the Bay Area where I have scored GREAT deals.  What are they?  If you really want to know, email me.

I hope this all helped!
