there's a light across the bay
blinking on and off today
and tonight when we're asleep
it keeps blinking just to keep
all the boats upon the water
from crashing into land, a sorta
friend to those who sail
a bright metronome which hails
those awake while those still sleeping
miss its throb while we're all deep in
these lives with egos thrusting
a simple truth we all can trust in
is there's a light across the bay
blinking on and off today
and tonight when we're asleep
it keeps blinking just to keep
all aware of earth's steep rising
from below towards earth's skies in
a place where sea meets land
across the bay from where I stand
