Yey…first chapter back from Japan!

Chapter 14

The feelings.

Auron ran as fast as he could, to get away from everyone. After hearing Rikku’s confession he just…couldn’t be around her anymore. It was as if everything turned upside down, as if he was betrayed. He sat down on a damp log, not caring if his clothes became wet and wept. His thoughts were so wrapped up in his emotions he didn’t sense the presence near him.

Jecht sat down next to him, without saying a word. He glanced at Auron’s face, his face baring all his emotions for the blitzball player to see. Jecht looked down at the ground, not saying anything in fear of Auron’s emotions getting the better of Jecht as well. ‘What should I do, why did I decide to even come out here.’ He thought. A few minutes before, Braska had begged to go instead of Jecht but he decided to go anyway. Jecht put an arm around Auron bringing him closer to him. To his surprise though, Auron grabbed onto him and cried into his chest.

"Hey…you’re not supposed to be this way. This isn’t you." Jecht commented. Auron didn’t say anything. "Come on! Stop it!" Jecht pushed Auron away from him, turning his head to hide the small blush on his cheeks.

"Then why did you come here Jecht. To taunt me? To tease me? Of course you don’t even give a damn, in fact you’re probably proud because now you can have Rikku for your own!" Auron spat hatefully.

"What?! You take that back you son of a bitch!" Jecht let his anger out and punched Auron in the stomach. Auron responded by tackling him onto the ground and punching him continuously. Jecht, trying to block most of his punches kicked him and threw him Auron off of him. ‘That’s right Auron, get that anger out.’ He thought. He stood up and kicked Auron in the ribs, making him cry out in pain.

"See Auron! This is what you do! You keep all your emotions to yourself. Your anger, hatred, pain, annoyance, everything! Even love! If you would release a little then maybe, just MAYBE YOU WOULDN’T BE SO ANGSTY!" Jecht sat down next to him and got out a potion for him to take.

"Emotion, all it has done is give me pain. I release my feelings and this is what I get! Betrayal!" Auron took the potion out of Jecht's hand and threw it against a tree, the glass bottle shattering.

"Betrayal? How could you say that? You’re a selfish bastard you know that? Have you thought of Rikku’s feelings? Huh? Why do you think she’s here? To save you from dying. Now why the hell would she do that unless she had some pretty strong feelings for you in the first place! IF ANYTHING YOU PROBABLY BETRAYED HER!" Jecht had wished he didn’t say the last few words. He corrected himself by saying. "I mean…what if you did something to her that hurt her so badly in the future. Maybe she doesn’t want to…admit to loving you because how she must feel. Hell…if you fell in love with her now, you must have ten years ago!"

"What does the future have to do with how I feel now?!" Auron interrupted.

"Think about it Auron, you must have been unsent if you died right? Maybe you two fell in love and when you were finally sent, Rikku must have been hurt." He said in a calmer tone. "Auron, you have to realize what this girl has gone through. She doesn’t want to LOSE YOU AGAIN!"

"Jecht, just leave, LEAVE!" Auron’s bruised face turned away. He rolled over on his side, facing away from Jecht. A few minutes later he heard Jecht’s curses and then his footsteps walk away. Then he thought about his words. ‘I guess he is right in a way…’ Auron sat up slowly, feeling the pain in his ribs from Jecht’s kick to them. He sighed and looked up towards the sky.

"If you want to know, I was never able to tell her how I felt until not long ago." A voice behind him spoke. ‘How familiar’ Auron thought. He turned around.

"What?!" He was looking at a mirror image of himself. An image that would come to be in ten years. He looked in awe at his own features. "You look like hell."

"Not as much as you. Jecht was right you know. You are selfish. However what Rikku did wasn’t the best either." The older version spoke out.

"She fell in love with you, not me."

"She fell in love with Auron, which is both of us. I could see how she felt, but I did the same as she did. At least she told you; at least she is trying…harder than I did. At least she wants to tell you unlike I did to her. I…never took the opportunity. I always looked away, turned the other cheek, and would just walk away. But Rikku does none of those things with you." The older version of Auron started to fade away.

"Wait!! Wait!! Lemme ask you one thing."

"Yes?"

"Do you think I have a chance with her?" The younger version asked.

"Of course, she loves you more than anything else." With that, the Grey haired man faded away entirely, leaving Auron in the dark alone.

Auron took out one of his own potions. He poured the substance onto himself, feeling the bruises fade away. He laid down on his back, looking up into the sky once more. He then stood up and walked back towards camp. When he got there, he noticed Rikku had gone to sleep. He walked softly towards the limp body, and picked it up in his arms. He then looked at Braska and nodded, then towards Jecht and gave a smile of thanks. Jecht smiled back. When Auron walked away with the girl in his arms, Braska looked to Jecht.

"What did you do?" Braska asked.

"Secret." Jecht kept smiling.

"Nehhh!!! Tell meeeee!" Braska latched onto his pantleg.

"What the hell?! Get offa me! You’re worse than she is!" As Jecht tried to shake him off of his leg. Finally he gave up and let ignored Braska’s pestering.

"Jecht." Said Braska.

"hmm?"

"I love you!" Braska giggled and tightened his death grip on Jecht’s leg.

"Jeez!!! What's with you?" Jecht questioned. Then heard laughter from Braska. He smiled and started laughing as well.

Auron looked back on the two men and gave a small smile. ‘Thank you my friends.’ He thought. He laid Rikku on the ground, then he took off his Jacket and laid it on top of her body. He sat down next to her and just stared at her sleeping face for a while. He noticed something strange about the face however. ‘Its in pain.’ He thought. He wondered what kind of physical pain Rikku was going through. He wondered what kind of mental as well.

"Rikku, I’m so sorry." He whispered. Rikku opened her eyes, and looked at Auron.

"No, I’m sorry." She whispered back. "Auron, I…"

"You don’t have to say it if you don’t want to Rikku." Auron interrupted.

"I…love you." Rikku responded. She sat up, and placed a hand on his cheek. ‘How familiar’ Rikku thought. She caressed it slowly while her face was moving closer to his. Auron closed his eyes, and allowed all his emotions to show. Rikku started to feel tears down Auron’s cheek and brushed them away with her fingers. Her quivering lips brushed his, and stayed in that position. Auron surprised her by leaning onto her lips, kissing her fully. She responded fully to the kiss, pulling him even closer.

Back at camp Braska had fallen asleep on a very irritated Jecht. Jecht poked at Braska a little bit, then tried to push him off. But no success, Braska would not move. Jecht tried to push him off again, but Braska unconsciously wrapped himself around Jecht more.

"You….you’re heavy!" he yelled into Braska’s ear. Braska screamed in fright from the voice. He looked down at Jecht.

"Oh Jecht, what are you doing?" Braska wondered.

"You…don’t remember falling asleep on me?" Jecht’s eyes widened.

"Nope!!!" Braska replied. Jecht finally pushed Braska off of him and walked to the other side of the fire. He drew a circle around his pad he laid out to sleep on and pointed towards it.

"You stay out of the circle!!!" Jecht grumbled, and collapsed onto the pad. Braska frowned and walked to the other side of the fire next to Jecht. He poked a few minutes and noticed in that short time Jecht had completely fallen asleep. He kissed Jecht on the cheek and went back to his pad.

To be continued.
