Chapter 2- The Partay

Back at the Son residence Goten is outside catching bugs, Chichi is cooking up a storm, and Gohan is digging franticly in his closet for something that might impress Videl at the party. Finally he finds something. A pair of Khaki pants and a loose crème colored turtle neck (hey, I’m not very good with fashion so if you don’t like what I picked just imagine him in something else) After getting dressed he looked at the clock and noticed that he had another hour before the party.

Goku suddenly appeared next to Gohan. Goku, “Hey son, why so dressed up” Gohan, *blushes* “umm…I” Goku, “You’re trying to impress Videl aren’t you” This makes Gohan blush even more. Goku, “Say no more. I understand. You know that you don’t have to try to impress her to get her attention. If you ask me, she’s got the hots for you” Gohan, “Daddddd…” Goku just laughs the famous Son Laugh and leaves the room.

Gohan, -great, first my mom, then Krillan, and now my dad. Maybe he’s right though. Maybe she does like me . Man, I hope so. She’s so beautiful *imagines Videl when he’s teaching her to fly; before the they went to the punching bags; and then flying towards Babidi’s ship.- Suddenly Goten breaks Gohan’s train of thought. “GOHAN, GOHAN!! LOOK WHAT I GOT!!!!” *holds up a giant bug*

Gohan, “Goten, did mo say you could bring that bug in the house?” Goten hangs his head, “No, but..” Gohan, “You know mom’s policy on bugs in the house. Now go back outside and let the bug free.” Goten, “Oh alright” Goten leaves the room, leaving Gohan to himself once again. Gohan sighs, takes a book out of his desk drawer, and starts writing.

Thirty minutes later Goten comes running back in to tell Gohan it’s time to go. Goku  I.T.s to Capsule Corp. with his family. Trunks runs over to meet his friend and they go start up the music from the DJ Booth with it’s own buffet table. Goku I.T.s to get Krillin and his family. Videl, Hercule,Yamcha, and Puar all live in the city so they just drove there themselves.

Gohan looks around for Videl’s ki but it isn’t there yet. He sighs and gets a (as in one) plate of food, sits down at a table with his book of poetry, and starts writing again. Goku returns just as the Satan family arrives (Yamcha and Puar were already there)  He sees the large tables full of food and makes a mad dash towards them. Chichi sighs and tries to cover up her obvious sadness.

Gohan, “Dad, come here real quick” Goku makes some noise that sounds remotely like “ok son”. Goku swallows his food, “What’s up son? Need tips on how to ask Videl out?” Gohan, “No, I was gonna tell you that maybe you should pay attention to mom tonight. I mean this is the first time she’s seen you alive in seven years.” Goku looks over at Chichi trying to look happy, “You’re right son, as usual. Videl is one lucky girl to have such a thoughtful guy to look after her” Gohan, “I hope she thinks so”

Goku, “Don’t worry about it. Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m going to dance with my lovely wife” Goku heads over to the two boys and requests a song. He then heads back over to where Chichi is just as the music is starting. Goku, “May I have this dance?” Chichi looks up from the table she’s sitting at with a smile on her face and nods. Goku extends his hand to her and she accepts. They walk out onto the dance floor

(Incase you guys are wondering…. the music is playing while they’re talking…so they are talking as the lyrics go on and therefore there aren’t long pauses in between verses in the song…Sorry, I just had to clear that up)

Videl spots Gohan at a table writing in some sort of notebook. Videl, “Hey Gohan, whatcha writin’?”

Gohan, “Oh hey Videl *closes book* I was just writing some poetry. I love writing. It gives me a sense of freedom from the world. For all the paper cares, the sky is purple, and fish have legs.” Videl, “Can I read some of your work? Please??” Gohan, *looks down at his book* “Alrighty but just this one page. Some of it’s kind of personal.” Videl, “oohhh…what type of personal? Like, secret crush personal, dirty personal, or just personal personal? Come on, you can tell me” Gohan, *sighs and then blushes* “Secret crush personal.” Videl, “Awe…who is she?? Do I know her?? WAIT, I’m starting to act like Erasa” *lets her head fall on the table*

Gohan, “It’s ok Videl. Here, did you still want to read this?” *Hands over the book* Videl *still has her face buried in the table* “No, that’s ok. Not right now. I’m trying to figure out where all that just came from” Gohan just laughs

Gohan “yeah it is” – I want to ask her to dance with me so bad but I just can’t bring myself to do it- “I’ll be right back. I’m going to go get some more tea (I hate punch :op~ ) Videl, “Ok” Gohan walks over to the drink table and fills his cheap plastic cup that takes about five of to make a decent thirst quencher . He looks out onto the dance floor seeing his mom and dad, krillan and 18, and even Bulma and Vegeta dancing without a care in the world.

Gohan, “Oh, it’s you Master Roshi. Yeah I know I could be..I just can’t get up the guts to ask her” Master Roshi, “Well, just ask her in a friend like fashion” Gohan has a confused look on his face. Master Roshi, “Look, if it helps I’ll ask Marron to dance with me. That way you two won’t be the only ‘non-couple’ out there. Gohan, “Thanks Master Roshi, You really are more then just an old perverted man” Master Roshi, “Uh, you’re welcome…and thanks…I think”

Gohan, “Videl *looks up and sees Master Roshi and Marron dancing*” Videl, “Yes Gohan?” Gohan, “I was…..wondering..if…” Videl *smiling* “If what?” Gohan, “If you’d da” Hercule, “Come on Sweet Pea, dance with your father” Videl, “But” Hercule, “But nothing, come on” Gohan –damnit, if I hadn’t been so nervous that would be me out there with Videl, and not Hercule-

Out on the dance floor. Videl, “Daddy, Gohan was talking to me” Hercule, “I’m sorry Sweet Pea, but I have to leave soon to go start packing for the trip around the world. It’s because of my ‘victory’ at the tournament. I just got the word. I’m sorry. You have to come with me this time. So I suggest you start wrapping things up here. Before you say anything. I called Erasa and her aunt is sick so her family is going out of town and Sharpner is going with her. *Videl tries to speak, but Hercule beats her to it* No, you can’t stay home with the maids because I’ve hired a crew to come repaint all the rooms and the help is taking holiday.” Videl looks down at the floor –Who else could I stay with? I don’t trust Jimmy enough to stay with him. Ashley would try to give me a makeover. Who else is there? (yeah yeah…CHEESY, I know) I KNOW!! I can stay with Gohan!! Yeah…. I could sleep with him in his room in his…STOP IT…. he doesn’t like you like you like him. Otherwise, you would be out here in his arms instead of your cheesy dad’s… still it’s better then reporters if I can just sleep on the couch- “Dad” Hercule, “huh?” Videl, “Could I stay with the Sons? I’m pretty sure they won’t mind”

Hercule looks over at Chichi and Goku dancing close by –Well, I don’t think they would hurt her. They did let her stay at God’s Palace with them. That kid taught her to fly…. she’s been wanting that since she was just a little girl. Maybe, but no. I don’t want her to date that kid. He’s too much of a nerd.. sure he’s strong, but he doesn’t look it and everyone’s going to laugh at me for letting my daughter go out with some scrawny kid. They’d think I was afraid that my son-in-law would beat me up because I let some little guy date my daughter-

Videl sees her dad in ‘deep thought’ and decides she needs to pull out the heavy artillery THE DADDY’S GIRL LOOK!!! Dun dun dunnnnnn “Daddy, please. You know I hate reporters and public places. Please??” Hercule *sigh* “Fine, just make sure that you won’t be any trouble. And take money with you incase you need anything. They don’t look like rich people and we don’t want to be a burden on them. Ok?” Videl, *hugs her dad* “Thank you Daddy!! I’ll ask Chichi and Goku once the song is done”

The couples come off the dance floor and Videl approaches Chichi and Goku. Videl, “ Chichi, Goku, my dad has to go out of town on business and the house is going under maintenance. I was wondering if I could stay the weekend at your house….my dad says it’s ok as long as it’s no trouble.” Chichi, “Sweetie it’s no trouble at all. You can stay with us whenever you want for however long you want.” Videl *gives big hugs to Chichi and Goku* “Thank you guys soo much…I hate those stupid trips” Goku, “You’re welcome Videl. Like Chichi said…you’re welcome anytime to stay with us.” Videl nods her head “I’ve got to go home and get what I’ll need for the next week” Chichi, “Ok dear, We’re staying here tonight so that I can help Bulma clean up and Trunks wants Goten to stay the night. Goten’s been having some trouble sleeping lately so Gohan has to stay here with him incase of an emergency. Although I don’t think those two boys are going to do a whole lot of sleeping. Anyway, We’ll see you later dear” Videl, “Ok, bye and thanks again!”

Gohan looks up from his food just in time to see Videl disappear out the door with her dad. “What the?”-Why didn’t she come tell me goodbye?- Tears start well up in his eyes. – I guess dad and Master Roshi were wrong. She looked really happy so I know she wasn’t forced to go home- Gohan go unnoticed by everyone in the room. –I was really starting to think that she actually liked me..stupid Gohan, stupid. Like any girl would ever like you!- Gohan lets his head fall on the table.

The dance goes on with the little super saiyans doing a surprisingly good job with the music. Gohan hasn’t moved from his position at all. Piccolo has had enough of his sulking and walks over to his pupil. Piccolo, “Gohan, how can your head be so close to your plate and there still be food on it?” Gohan, *from his position on the table* “I just don’t feel good” Piccolo, “Well you aren’t sick. I can tell you know. So what is so awful that it’s making you act this way?” Gohan, “You wouldn’t understand” This shocks Piccolo. Gohan has always been able to talk to him about his problems. Piccolo starts to speak but Gohan just gets up, walks over to a corner off to the side, and just sits on the floor with his head in his knees. All of a sudden, he just falls over.
