Ancient Chinese Yin-Yang scholars believed that everything was made up of five basic elements: metal, water, fire, wood and earth. They thought achieving a balance between them was the key to personal happiness and success.

My Results

Your elements are super balanced! You are one of those rare people who has equal amounts of each element competing for influence. This means that your water, fire, metal, wood and earth elements live in perfect harmony and chances are that this makes you feel very much at peace with yourself and your surroundings. Even when something goes wrong, you tend to be able to shrug it off with a smile. You know that there's always a high following a low...so why worry?

The Elements
Fire

Fire burns with a bright and hot flame and is related to passion and enthusiasm. Joy is the dominant feature of the elemental energy of fire. Fire helps us see the beauty of life and to enjoy living. Fire burns brightly and can spring up quickly...but it can burn out just as fast. The fire element gets us excited over things that are worth it but allows us to let go. Structures with sharp edges and pointed features bring out the best qualities of fire. A hot climate is the best for fire as it helps the flame to burn strong. The color that corresponds to fire is red. Fire types like to eat bitter food such as grapefruits.

Earth

Even if you grab a handful of earth and throw it up in the air it will always settle back to the ground. The element earth is therefore related to stability. Trustworthiness is the dominant feature of the elemental energy of earth. This promotes the loyalty and responsibility in us. If it isn't disturbed, earth can be very stationary. The earth element therefore allows us to sit still for a while and not to change our mind too often. Things that provide security will encourage the positive qualities of earth. Everything from a sturdy bag to a well-built house can fulfill the need for safety. A humid climate is best for earth as it keeps the earth damp and stops it from getting blown away. The colors that correspond to it are yellow and brown. Earth types are known for having a sweet tooth.

Wood

The nature of wood is embodied in a tree. Wood encourages a tendency to aim high while at the same time keeping your feet firmly on the ground. Trees grow patiently. The element of wood helps us to plan things in a logical and practical way. Trees often try to outgrow each other to get the best light and to develop the strongest roots. The wood element therefore encourages a competitive attitude. Natural environments inspire the positive qualities of wood. But the high buildings of a city can also stabilize the connection between the sky and the ground. A windy climate is best for wood as it helps blow old leaves off the twigs and branches and stimulates new growth. The color that is associated with wood is green. Wood types enjoy sour treats.

Water

Water has no defined shape and is related to a strong sense of imagination that defies set boundaries. Calmness is the dominant elemental energy of water and this helps us to make decisions that are smart and well-considered. Water can stand still or flow. Prevailing stillness promotes peace of mind while flowing water energizes. To enhance both the soothing and stimulating qualities, the water energy needs to be near real water. It doesn't have to be the ocean or a river--an aquarium or even floating candles in your house should be more than sufficient. A cold climate is best for the water energy, as it prevents it from evaporating into steam. The color that corresponds to water is black. Water types like salty foods.

Metal

Metal is strong and hard to bend and is related to strength and persistence in the human body. Courage is the dominant elemental energy of metal and this helps us to step in when someone is being treated unfairly or needs to be backed up. Metal also shines, providing a certain degree of pride. It is the element that leads us to expect recognition for the things we do well. To make the most of its reflective quality, metal needs a lot of space and no distractions. Open spaces and minimalist decorations can have a calming effect on metallically dominant people. A dry climate is best for metal energy, as it prevents it from rusting out. The colors that correspond to metal are white and all metallic shades, like silver, gold and copper. Metal types tend to like their food spicy.
