SOOOOO shexy

I still can't believe we had snow here. It hasn't registered. I stood outside in the prep clothes my gracious aunt bought me for my big 1-7, staring at the flakes and wondering what the heck it was. So this is snow, I thought, and so many things ran through my head. Like Winter Sonata, and Harry Potter fanfics with happy snowball fights, and the Jang Nara song about meeting a first love out in the first snowfall of the year. It must have been A Moment for me. Until everyone else came out to go to Christmas Eve mass.

Oh, yes. Catholic mass. I must be a religion whore. But I liked it. Save the smell of incense. And the plastic baby everyone seemed to be bowing to. But hey, if you say it's baby Jesus I'll believe you.

one final till short-lived freedom

I wish there were two Crystals. One to have all the fun and be responsible for the fun chores, like shopping for Christmas presents for friends. And one to do all the work. Every now and then they'd switch, just so that one doesn't develop the ennui that is inevitable with a total lack of responsibilities, and the other doesn't commit suicide from the nonstop ferrous sulfate and calculus homework. =)

Now that I've told you, I suppose my wish doesn't stand a chance of ever coming true. That's okay. I'm still holding out.

that's why envy's my middle name

FRIDAY! WEEKEND! Which, for me, will officially start as soon as I get home from the Christmas party with STARS kids this evening. And I'd started to think that weekends did not exist anymore.

My lovelies, if it were completely up to my discretion whether or not to update the MRealm layout, I would work to put up a gloriously breathtaking Winter Sonata layout for you (failing miserably in the process but getting an A for effort). As things are, however, whether or not that happens is up to the discretion of my computer and of my homework.

Since I've undoubtedly relapsed and my life isn't interesting at all anyway, let's not have Crystal wallowing in her own self-pity or disgust or whatever emotion this stuffy red nose is inciting right now. Maybe irritation. *Sniffs*. Instead, let's talk about things that are truly meaningless because I like to live vicariously through glamorous people.

Winter Sonata was awesome. In terms of quality programming it was terrible, but in terms of bawl-your-eyes-out entertainment it was pretty great. Despite some terrible work on the part of film production, some of the scenes outside were beautiful. Almost surreal. No doubt intentionally, to add to the whole ethereal love sort of feeling.
Choi Ji Woo is a beautiful actress who gives off a smart sophisticated air. Though she repeatedly plays helpless-damsel-type roles, it's no secret that she is pretty good at making audiences cry. Personally, I admire her as a person more than for her roles because of her modesty and elegance.
The guy who played Sang-hyuk is cute. Don't try to dissuade me. He looks like a six-year-old boy and I think that's adorable. I'm sorry things kind of don't work out for him.
The Supplementary Story of the Nine-Tailed Fox is a really long name. We'll call it Gumiho for short. Nice. More fantasy than other k-dramas. They did a good job on the set with the bolted cloth and industrial fans. But the colored tiki torches'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">tiki torches'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">tiki torches need to go. Gosh, the dramatically quiet cellist guy with the long hair is cute. Go for him, Shi-yeon, not the ugly cop! But I can already tell, 1 episode in, she won't listen to me. Which reminds me of...
Kim Tae-Hui, who plays Shi-Yeon. What can I say? She's so pretty! So fresh-looking. I love her wardrobe in Gumiho. EVA! We're designing some of that stuff, too, okay? Sassy but elegant. And though she was a terrible "female antagonist" in Stairway to Heaven, she's a decent actress in "good girl" roles.
Kim Jung Eun, who played the female lead in Lover in Paris. Great personality! And cute. If those "Lovely White"-style Korean cartoon dolls with the enormous sparkly eyes and cute cartoonish faces could be interpreted somehow into a human being, they would turn out to look exactly like her. She's got the big sparkly brown eyes and everything.

Wow, I have no life.

my Christmas wish list

things i'll never get because no one thinks i'm being serious

  • CD-Rs. Memorex Black all-purpose. Lots of them. Because my computer is slowly wasting away, and I'll need to reformat. Unless you'd like to give me a brand-new computer or laptop instead *-*
  • Beautiful classic children's books. Hardcover. Like The Polar Express and The Rainbow Fish. The Velveteen Rabbit. And that tearjerker about the poor little girl who either starves or freezes to death. Because some things just never lose their magic. And the fact that I've been deprived of quality children's literature.
  • That yummy Korean sausagey-rice stuff you slice up and dip into monosodium glutamate. *drools* And some shik-heh to wash it all down.
  • The famous and hauntingly beautiful photograph of the Gare Montparnasse train wreck. My family knows I've been obsessed with this one for ages, so I might actually get it. One can only hope.
  • A life. Don't laugh. You know you want one, too.
