The band

I'm not going to talk about their personal relationships or anything like this in this page, here you'll only read about the interests I think they've and since I don't have any personal conntact with them I don't know if everything is true, I've just read it in magazines or seen it on TV.

The Kelly Family has been singing for more than 20 years, but their success isn't only by their wonderful music: they also are natural people, a family. This strong feelings seem to be a bit forgotten nowadays and I think it's great they show it to the world and also bring this entusiasm and joy to their fans.
  It all started when they all were little childs. Their father was an antiquarian at that time and her mother a dancer. They got married in USA and then moved to the south of Spain. They probably had a very hard time there, because during the 50's, 60's and 70' Spain was passing through a very bad time, because we had a dictatorship, we also had had a Civil War and many parts of the country were poor. There they used to sang in the streets in weddings and this kind of places. They also lived in Madrid and the North of Spain, in Euskadi, known by foreign people as the Basque Country. They appeared in some TV shows and they were loved by everybody. John, Patricia, Joey, Jimmy and Barby were born in Spain, Angelo too but some years later.
They went on singing on the streets and living in Italy, France, Holland, Ireland, where Paddy was born. Finally they settled down in Germany, where Maite was born.
In 1982 their mother died of cancer and since her last wish was them to keep on singing, that's what they did.
  They toured around Germany, Switzerland, Holland... giving street concert, at that time they were becoming very famous. But it was in 1994 when they broke through with their album Over the hump, they became number one in many European countries and since then their success is only growing day by day. And I'm sure they'll have more and more success in the future, because they work very hard, their music is great and the most important, they're real lovers of life and music.

Maite Kelly

She's 20 years old and was born in Germany. When she was just two or three years old she was on stage for the very first time.
In the band, she usually plays the bass and percussion and sings all kind of songs, ballads, folk, rock,...
On stage she has a lot of energy, always dancing, jumping, singing with the crowd... I really admire her so much. I think she's the greates example to show that you don't need to be like a model to be a nice, elegant and funny person.
I think she likes very much cooking, designing clothes, including clothes for the family, dancing, having fun,...

Paddy Kelly

He's 22 and the only member born in Ireland. At a very early age he used to present his family in the shows and I think he enjoys very much the honest conntact with the fans.
He plays many different instruments (sorry if I forget any of them!), like the guitars, keyboards, piano, accordion, harmonica, mandolin, percussion, drums,...
I read somewhere that he listens to different kind of music, but one of his favourite musicians is Bruce Springsteen.
He speaks fluently English, Spanish (really he speaks it so well), French, Ducth, German,... some of his hobbies are sport, music, cinema, sleeping (who doesn't love sleeping?),... and I'm sure that many many more.

Barby Kelly

She was born in Spain in 1975 and grew up mostly in France. She also plays many different instruments like accordion, guitar,... but on concerts she loves to play the congas.
One of her favourite things to do is painting. She's been painting since she was a child. Her most famous paintings are aquas, many of them are dancers, ballerinas. She also loves dancing, and has taken dancing and ballet lessons. But she also dances traditional Irish music.

Patricia Kelly

She was born in Spain. She's one of the older members of the family and has always taken care of her brothers and sisters.
She usually writes very beautiful ballads, talking about personal experiences or just her view of life.
She plays the keyboard, harp, percussion,... She speaks also many different languages, and her Spanish is perfect, but also English, German, Dutch,...
I think she likes going on bycicle, going to second hand markets, music,... but specially I think she's a very kind and friendly person, for what I've seen in on Tv and the concert I went, she's so caring and of course sings like an angel.
