The Kellys in Spain: "We had a wonderful time"

The Kellys triumphed in their concerts in Spain, but also on their touristic visits! Bravo spent a funny day with them...

It is 12 o clock in the morning and a radiant sun shines on the Mayor Square of Madrid. Tourists, painters and street musicians walk around the square. From one of the narrow streets a very special group of people appear... The Kelly Family! Maite is the first to greet us: "Hola!", she says in a pefect Spanish, "I have just tried  some wonderful sevillana s dresses on!". Kathy, Sean, Barby,Patricia, John, Angelo and Paddy go into the conversation. Angelo and paddy have some packets, what would they carry? "Every time we come to Spain we buy hams and Manchego cheeses. We love them!" says Paddy while talking. It is time to eat and the Kellys choose a terrace bar: they ordered different kinds of "tapas", but they fight for the ones of "chopitos" (a kind of ham). Between bite and bite, the Kellys take their turns to explain anecdotes: "Yesterday we were in Barcelona and it was incredible! Everybody singing all the time... I almost could not hear my drums!" says Angelo. "We were mad keen to come here" says John in a mixture of English, German and Spanish. "It was a pitty that our last visit had been canceled". But something attracted Paddy s attention: the caricaturists. "I want to have one!". And he does: in a moment he is sitting and the white paper starts quickly to become a painting. Paddy tries to see it, but... "you cannot see it unitl I finnish it!" says kindly the painter. It is finnished ina few minutes: the result is very funny, and Paddy starts tolaugh loud. "Can you decide it buy lot?" he asks us and he sings it dedicated to Bravo readers. Of course we can!
Meanwhile, some gypsies are playing flamenco music. Maite does not think twice and goes into the dancing with them. A lot fo people surround them watching what they aredoing and clap along with the guitar rythm. John and kathy also enter to the improvised party. Everybody is having a lot of fun. "I love dancing flamenco, specially the movements of the arms..." says Maite embracing the girl she is dancing to. People start to applaude loud. To finnish the touristic tour, the kellys choose a visit to the old part of Madrid that ends in the gardens of the Oriente Square. Sean, son of Kathy, rushes around the labyrinths formed by hedges. While all the Kellys are staying under a tree, they give a nice message to Bravo readers:"We will come back in a couple of months. We love you...!".

Quick interview with The Kellys

From their hearts is the chosen title for the new and wished Kelly family album, that will come out on mid November. And is is a very international album.
  John:"We have recorded it in Italy, France and Ireland. We are already preparing the last details, but there are singles recoreded, such as Hooks, Yo te quiero or You got me rocking..."
B:Why did you chose this title?
Maite:"It is titled From their hearts because the music was born from the Kelly hearts, with all our feelings".
B:And how did you chose the first single?
Maite:"At first people thought it was going to be I feel love because we played it in some of our last concerts, but we prefered to present our album with a ballad sung by Angelo, I will be your bride".
B:What has been your inspiration>?
Maite:"There is a bit of everything: love songs, songs based on personal experiences, another ones are fiction... Inspiration comes in any moment".
B:In your last concerts, we saw Patricia with crutches...
John:"It is nothing important. She hurt her ankle, but now she is better. By now she does not resist a whole concerts standing, but she can go and sing her songs".
B:And... when do you come back to Spain?
John:"We alrady do not know. A bit of pacience!".

Maite, Paddy and Angelo, They feel love! New single

Although they have had to cancel their visit to our country, the Kellys do not forget their fans in Spain: in Bravo they present the romantic previous single of their new album...
"We feel very sad but by now it is impossible for us to do what we promised and play live in Spain", says Johnny when we asked him about the postponement at last hour of the four concerts The Kelly Family was going to offer in the month os September. What is the reason? "We are finnishing the last things of our new album, which will come out soon, and time is running from our hands..."
Since your last visit in April ha spassed a long time... What have you done? "Travel around the world" says Maite with smiling. "The truth is that we have not stopped a minute. After Spain we were around a lot of countries". But for the Kellys there was a special moment: China. "We did a concert in Pekin in fron of 10.000 people. We were the first occidental group to play there this year!"; says. the most emotive moment was when Dan, the father of the family, went to the stage. "Everybody stood up", remembers Paddy. In the Chinesee culture, the figure of the father is very important, because is the reflex of knowledge, the experience...". However, there were moments of danger for the Kellys. "We had planned to do a dozen of concerts, but for the terrible floodings we could�t get to the cities... It was very sad".
On your last visit to Spain, Jimmy did not come with you. What is he doing now? Did he go to China with you? "No, he is studying in the school of cinema of Dublin and only comes when he has no classes" says Kathy. It seems that you never stop, how do you resist this rythm? "I do not know", says Paddy smiling. "When we are not on stage we get into the recording studio to finnish our new album. We have not cosen the title if the album yet. That is because everyone want a different one!..." jokes Angelo and goes on seriously:"We hope that this new album will be a comfort until you can see us live. We are very sorry for it".

Bravo For... The Kelly Family

The nine Kelly brothers and sisters have come back with a new ballad that talks about a romantic story... between Angelo and a mysterious girl!
Because it's love (Porque es amor) is the presentation single og Growin' Up (Creciendo), the new album of The Kelly Family. Angelo wrote this sweet ballad thatbtalks about a mysterious girl... "With her I had a beautiful love story...", he says with shyness. The youngest Kelly expressed his passion with romantic phrases such as: "Every time I look at your face, I get this feeling, everytime I look in your eyes, it starts healing, everytimw we walk side by side, I get this feeling because it's love" (Cada vez que te miro a la cara, tengo esta sensacion, cada vez que te miro a los ojos, me siento mejor, cada vez que andamos uno al lado del otro tengo esta sensacion porque es amor).
Like in every album, also in Growin' Up the Kellys have written the 13 songs of the album. And everyone have their favourite: Patricia, the ballad Life is hard enough (La vida es lo suficientemente dura). "Last year I had an accident and I had to rest for some months... It was a sad time", she remembers. Paddy and Kathy prefer rock  and their favourite, specially live is Rock'n'roll stole my soul. "It talks about Tom, a bou who has problems with drugs..." says Paddy, "But finally he gets by". Having a look at the whole album, all the brothers liked so much the same song: Leave it to the spirits (Dejalo en manos de los espiritus). "It has the chorus in Spanish, and you know how much we love to sing in Spanish and to be in Spain!", says Jimmy.

The Kelly Family, what a surprise

What a surprise... Jimmy has cut his hair! As you can see lately, the rebel of the family has decided to change his look: "I have spent 15 years without going to the hairdresser", says Jimmy, "it was time to change!". The first time he appeared with this new look was in a gala organised by the tenor Josep Carreras with the song No abanodones (Don't give up), where the Kellys sang the song All along the way. It is no necessary to say how was the face of the fans! You won't have to wait many time to see him with his new hair cut, because The Kelly Family will come To Spain in promotion on the second week of February. With this visit, they've decided to publishthe second singles, One more song, a ballad sung by Paddy that talks about good and bad moments in a relationship.

Quick interview with Angelo

There's a new single coming, new album and maybe new visits of the big family, The Kelly Family. We miss them in Spain, so Angelo (15) told us some surprises which will be ready next autumn. And there's a new single, isn't it?
Angelo:"Yes, And it's also a very important song for me... (he says with shyness). It's called Because it's love (Porque es amor)".
Is it a ballad written by you?
Angelo:"Yes, I wrote it about an year ago. And I still like to remember those moments. I fell in love with a girl of my age, and every word in this song came straight from my heart".
Was she an Irish girl?
Angelo (smiling):"Yes, she came from Ireland. One afternoon, next to her, I took my guitar and then I wroe the song. Some months after, while I was talking with my brothers about new songs, I sang it to them. My voice was trembling... but they liked it so much".
This song is the first single of your album. When will it be ready?
Angelo:"I still can tell you an exact date. We hope it will be ready at the end of October".
And you already have shot the video of Because it's love, where have you filmed it?
Angelo:"The video doesn't show a story, like in other videos we�ve made, this time they're only beautiful images: in a good, travelling in the canals... it's very romantic!".
The girl you dedicated the song, appears in the video?
Angelo:"No! She's only in my memories".
And, how's Maite now after her accident?
Angelo:"She's OK, she doesn't have the scagoglia anymore. Probaly very soon you'll see her on stage again!".

The Kelly Family, Cancelled Promotion

Finally they couldn't come in promotion in February, but The Kellys will come at the end to Spain on the 4th and 5th of April. "we're so sorry we haven't come to Spain before", says Kathy, "but we were very tired: the tour has been so tyring and we had to take a little break, but soon we'll be there again". The resting place was their home in Ireland:"We all have our own apartment, so we can stay together... but everybody is free!", says Maite laughing. The family is looking so forward to present live their latest songs from Growin' Up (they'll do it on the 23th and 24th of April in Barcelona and Madrid). "In other countries, like Germany, we're used to play in front of thousands of people. But what we  really like is to make people have fun and enjoy the show, it doesn't matter if it's a stadium or a small bar", says Maite. "In your country the concerts will be smaller, but with more intensity, because we'll have a closer conntact with the fans". The Kelly Family is thinking carefully about publishing sung only in Spanish:"We like very much this idea, but we still don't know anything for sure. When we'll finnish the tour, we'll see if we do it now or we leave it for the future.

Angelo "My love song   NEW

After some months in silent, The Kelly Family come this autumn with "Because it's love", a romantic preview single of their new album. It's a beautiful ballad written by Angelo.
"Every time I look at your face, I get this feeling, every I look in your eyes, it starts healing..."
With these tender eords starts "Because it's love", a ballad sung by Angelo and Paddy (like "I can't help myself). "Because it's love" is the previous single of the new album of the Kellys (album which probably will be in the shops at the end of october).
Angelo wrote this song an year ago. "I like to remember those moments because I was in love..." he says. "We had moved to Ireland. It was a rainy afternoon, I looked for a prncil and a paper and I wrote the words which came to my mind... I felt  melancolic and happy at the same time". The youngest Kelly also composed the music of this single. "I took the guitar and I started to play a melody. I like dit so much so I decided to tape it on a cassette". But after this, Angelo forgot that song until some months after, when she was talking with his brothers and sisters about the new album. "It w as then when I sang it to them... And they immediately liked it!", he remembers with a smile. Like in the videos of "When the boys come into town" (which Kellys filmed it in the village of El Rocio) or "Fell in love with an alien", the video of "Because it's love" talks about a special story: "We wanted to make something simple and show a conert, the backstage... so a day in the life of the Kellys. We've also put some images from our trip to China", says John, who has directed the video. "I hope it will bring you the tenderness of the song".
In this video we see Maite without the scagoglia. "I couldn't "wear"it anymore", she says. "They put it out before it was time. With the heat it was difficult to move and it itched..." she says with a smile. Probably many fansask themselves if the girl who Angelo was in love with appears also in the video. "No", says Angelo smiling. "I wrote this ong to lovers of all over the world and for all our fans, and I want people who listen to it fell appy":
