If you are planning to purchase, or have already purchased an APBT pup, you have certain new responsibilities. Responsibilities different with this breed than with any other, thanks to past and present irresponsible and inhumane owners. Pit Bulls are pretty active dogs and you must attend this by either play, work, or excersize. Pit pups like any other have the instinct to chew, thanks to teething! However they are much stronger chewers, and you must also provide for this, unless you want your table to become their toy! This breed gets very attached to their family, and require lots of love and attention, because they are big babies. You must keep them well socialized with new people and new animals, especially dogs. You have the responsibility to NOT raise and agressive dog most of all. They need care just as any other breed, we reccomend a high energy food for the outside babies! To keep people and critics from complaning, follow all leash laws and any other k-9 laws there may be in your area. This will help keep off negative breed impact (people talking about your dog), and make them realize what a great, well mannered dog you have! ALWAYS be aware of what their capabilities are and never forget them. Join local clubs that support the breed, you can also participate in fun shows! You and your dog will enjoy this. Most of all a Responsible Owner raises their dog right and will do all they can to change the false reputation of this breed! |
