Many may have heard of Chakras, but never actually knew what they were. These can be described as different "psychic centers" on the body, seven major, and many minor. Each of these forms a bridge, link, or energy transformer, changing pure (higher) energy into various forms, and connecting the four bodies (spiritual, mental, astral, and physical) together.
The chakras are located along the nadies (a network of psychic nerves or channels), and follow the autonomic nervous system along the spinal cord. They correlate with major acupuncture points along the 'governing vessel meridian' (acupuncture term). They are connected together by three major nadies, which are parallel to eachother on the body. The middle nadi is called *sushumna*, which has neutral characteristics. The nadi on the left side of the body is the *ida* nadi, which has yin characteristics. On the right side, the nadi is called the *pingala* nadi, which has yang qualities.
The philosophy of chakras comes from India, Chakra being the Sanskrit word for wheel. They are visible to those with clairvoyant sight as varously colored rotating circles or funnels. These wheels of spiritual power can reveal your state of health, psychic abilities and general state of mind. When we perform magick, it is these energy centers that we activate and use to project our intentions. In the East, they are described as petaled flowers or lotuses, and in Western Shamanism they are devined as Spirit Tunnels. They can be used in meditation or spells to focus energy of a specific type.

By meditating upon each chakra in turn starting at the base, we can produce a flow of energy within the body. The body can be split into three psychic meridian, Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. It is along these paths that the energy flows, and is symbolised by the caduceus, or 'Wand of Hermes'.
