Philip Strife is one of four demenelves born of an elf queen and the demonlord. He was taken by a mage as an infant and left in the care of a man named William Strife. He was raised as a knight and quickly discovered his lightning abilities. Shortly after his guardian died Philip set out to explore the world and learn about his past. During his journey he came across the land of Myst.
Philip stayed in Myst until an attack on his home country of Ivalice called him away, and it was while defending the city that he crossed paths with his other siblings for the first time. Up until this point, Philip assumed he was no more than an elf with lightning magic; but after learning of his heritage he resolved he could no longer return to Ivalice and instead returned to Myst.
After some time passed, Philip heard word that Andrinor, an old enemy of the Strife�s, had returned and set out on his own to stop the wizard. However, Andrinor�s power proved to great and Philip was killed as a result. Instead of dying, his soul was trapped in a void and after being found by Raven Saterno, he was rescued and brought back to life by the Lights.
