Drakiel Cloud B�leygr is a dragon, originally a split personality within
the skull of Magefrost. This personality was originally a mix of
Magefrost's tougher side, his inner demons and their raw power, and his
stormy temper. It differentiated and grew, until Magefrost could no
longer stand having such a multitude within him. This caused the
Archmage to perform a long and powerful ritual, which drove out the
alternate personalities and gave them corporeal forms. In this manner
Drakiel, Brandt, Anihunota, Stakati, and Osedax were born. Drakiel was
as moody as the storm clouds he flew with, and at first would attack
most anything. Eventually the peaceful nature of the people of Myst
calmed him. In secret, when he met his sister Anihunota, he began to
fall in love with her, and her with him. Not long after this joining,
the two of them were sucked through a magical portal, spewed out in a
far away place. There they made their home, absorbing power from the
unmolded landscape, changing it to their whim and making place for their
children. So it was that they became the first two Drakon, gods of
Orbis, parents to the rest of the Drakon. However, though Drakiel's
temper had been calmed somewhat, still it remained, and only stony calm
could hold it back at times. It ended up that Drakiel was a bad father,
and so his children finally rebelled, his eldest son stealing away his
divine powers and exiling him away. So Drakiel returned to Myst for a
time, until an agent of his children came for him, capturing him and
returning him to Orbis, where they changed their sentence, imprisoning
him upon the fire world, the Red Sphere that is nearly hot as the sun
itself, Hui Xing. He was the first sent there, and the greatest, so now
he rules it. This punishment he takes willingly, burning to atone for
what he has done to his children; he seeks this atonement. As part of
the punishment, he can be summoned and commanded, a powerful engine of
destruction; this is the only way he can ever be off Hui Xing until his
children decide otherwise. So he has been at times a dragon, a man, a
father, a god, a king, a cruel abuser, a refugee, a prisoner, a lord of
fire, and a powerful summoned creature.
Though he is a dragon, Drakiel is most of the time seen in a human form
he takes so that he may better fit in places, in terms of size, and in
terms of society. When he appears, he is tall and lordly, projecting a
sense of majesty even after his usurpation and imprisonment. Since his
imprisonment he has changed; his eyes are the red of the skies he flies
within, his hair is black as coal, and he is always found wearing a
cloak that looks like a window into the swirling red storm clouds of Hui
Xing. In his true shape, he is a massive four legged two winged dragon,
a black scaled and muscled mountain in flight whose wings blot out the
sun. His eyes are orbs that reflect the skies of a different place, the
red storms and orange lightning of Hui Xing.
