*At first glance she looks about 18 but is actually older. Her dark coppery hair flows to the middle of her back and her eyes are the color of dark chocolate set in a pixie-ish face that takes in everything around her, sometimes shining with a faint golden glow from the moonlight. On her nose is a pair of black wire-rimmed oval sunglasses to hide her gaze on nights when the moon is bright enough to reflect off her eyes. Her clothes are somber with a soft black sweater, dusty grey jeans and boots with a black duster covering it all. She moves with a sensual grace that marks her as either a dancer or a fighter. Around her neck is a simple gold chain with an emerald teardrop pendant hanging from it. Over her shoulder is a backpack that looks large enough to carry a laptop and accessories.* (otherworldly taint - eyes)
York Antiques
Inc. is set in the fairly upscale part of town where the businesses are brick
with plaster over it. The front of her shop has a glass front with small items
sitting in the show case to catch the eye of anyone passing by. Inside is neat
with glass cases to show off more small items ranging from jewelry, watches,
knives and other things that might be found in a upscale antiques shop. In the
back is a curtained door through which the staff can retreat for breaks and
such.
At Home:
Its what seems to be a three-story
warehouse on the outside, just on the outskirts of the middle-class part of
town. The first floor has a set of double steel doors for a car to move through,
obviously the parking area. Off to the side is another door for foot entry.
The two stories above have a few windows here and there. Inside however is different.
There's an antique open lift that leads up from the parking area to the first
floor where it opens out to an exerice area lined with various martial art practice
weapons. Further into the room is a set of leather furniture that has been placed
in a semi arrangement in the middle of a large old oriental rug. Shelves filled
with books and nicknacks are over by some tables along the wall and in the back
is a construction area where a kitchen is being finished. A set of metal stairs
lead up to the last level which over hangs the first. Here and there are glass
cases with swords and knives from every era and country it seems, a few reniassance
and later paintings of women or young men similar to the owner of this decadent
home adorn the walls.
Upstairs is her personal sanctuary, set away from
the world so that she can relax and regain her center. Its decorated with soft
colors and materials that help encourage relaxation, along with furniture that
seems worn from the ages since they were made. A simple get-away for a sometimes
too intensely practical person.
Life started off in Ireland, in 1965 where she grew up, learning
her mother's healing skill and attended school until her university years. She
finished up school in the states where she met her boyfriend, Markus. He taught
her how to use and control her skills in hellfire path before leaving her to help
some friends with a task. While waiting for him to return, she took a position
as a computer programmer with a corporation in Hawaii and polished her hobby of
hacking. When Markus' group called to tell of his death, she decided to join them
in order to 1) find his killer and 2) pick up where he left off in the group.
While exploring some caverns with the group, she was killed in an ambush by an
enemy who did not wish to see the group succeed in their mission. Left for dead
by her attackers, she was found by a wandering archeologist who explained to her
what she had become. After a few years of training with him, she felt confident
enough to go out on her own, starting with a new identity (Muriel York) and make
her own way in the world. Ten years after going off on her own, she found some
peace with new friends and family. She became reunited with her younger sister
Moira, took her original name again (Misty O'Tiernan) and married a good friend
Sylvan.
Life became hectic when her small group found themselves
being targeted by old enemies trying to wipe out some of them and new ones trying
to take over the small glen that they lived in. Having to endure watching her
new friends and family die, she became cold and aloof, growing more so after an
unfortunate meeting with another immortal. The small bit of dark energy she absorbed
left very few of the feelings she had for family and friends intact and she left
to get away before she did something that she would regret if she were in her
right mind. Sylvan followed at a careful distance but the now paranoid Misty took
off for lands that were desolate and uncharted. After weeks of playing hide and
seek, he finally confronted her in a cave deep in the wastelands of Arizona. The
confrontation turned physical with shouting at each other and they accidentally
stumbled on a pool deeper in the cave. Something in the waters must have had magical
properties, for she woke on the shores where Sylvan had dragged her with a clearer
mind and soul. He brought the weary Misty home and they discovered that during
their absence two more of her siblings had managed to find the glen and had set
up homes in the surrounding area (Phelan and Kieran). With a short rest and a
chance to reunite with friends and her family she was ready to take on the fight
of defending her home again against the invading forces. Things were going well
until the leader, a mage of conciderable power decided to take out the two that
seemed to be the strength and leadership of the small defending group. He let
them think he was tired of fighting and was willing to come to terms with them
and when they arrived to talk, he sprang the trap spell he had set for them and
smiled afterwards when he looked upon two 14 year olds instead of the two older
warriors. He set in motion his next spell and when they woke, they found themselves
in 1399 in northern Ireland with only thier wits and speed to keep themselves
alive now.
She
became immortal again at the age of 20 in the year 1405 when an attack by thieves
caught her outside the village they had settled in. Abused then killed, her body
mended itself and she awoke with the knowledge that life at home would never be
the same once again. For the next few years she stayed quiet about what had happened
to her then decided it was time to leave when others around her began to age and
she didn't. Taking what gold she could and stashing the rest in a safe place she
began her life of wandering from place to place, never staying in the same area
for more than a few years at a time, changing her name when she needed to keep
her identity secret. To help keep herself alive she would occasionally find a
suitor or someone to 'act' as her protector or a safe haven that she could hide
away from the world for more than the few years that she usually stayed in society.
When she was in society, she usually kept a low profile and worked her way in
with whatever healer was in the area to help hone her skills in her chosen path.
Occasionally she would disguise herself as a boy to help work on her fighting
skills or just for a change of pace to keep herself alive.
As she reached her original timeline again she became
more secretive, quietly watching over her family but afraid to do anything to
change the past (for her) or their futures. After seeing the attack on her family
she followed after the two that had been captured, determined to at least save
the one sibling that hadn't been able to survive the first time around. She watched
and waited until the chance came when Alasdair himself managed to get out of the
fortress like hive but badly hurt and being chased by his captors. She took that
moment to step in and protect him as she hadn't been able to do before and took
him off to one of her havens to heal. Since he was so badly injured and mentally
messed up from his imprisonment he didn't realize that it was his sister that
had saved him, thinking it was some other person (he was 11 the last time he saw
her at home). When she thought he was healed enough she left him on his own and
returned to Smithville to see what had happened to her old group and home, now
using the name of Myste York.
