Play Hydra Before the break, we heard Hydra. Kaorusan... K: Yes It's scary (laugh)! K: Well, yes... D: Is it? It's more gruesome than your first album. K: Yes. That's true D: It's the album title ne? MACABRE means gruesome. What language is it? K: English Oh really? This kind of word exists? K: Yes. It is ideal for the album. Do you make the songs to fit the image? K: No, not really. The titles come afterwards. I think it is an ideal title. I thought maybe perhaps there would be more pop-ish songs in the album. (laugh). It looks like the songs like 'Hydra' are the main type in this album. Did you decide to do that? D: No, it became like that without realizing. Really? K: We just put in the songs we liked and wanted to put in. Do you ever get stuck in song making? K: We got stuck a little with the arrangement. How? K: We think of the chords and everything together, adding extra on. There are days when nothing gets done. We don't achieve anything and there is a depressing atmosphere. No one comes up with good ideas? K: Yes This time, the songs are produced by dir en grey. Is it easy to self-produce? D: Well, not easy but normal. Is it easier with a producer? K/D: Not that it's easier... K: Well...umm..we wanted to do it ourselves and to tell you the truth and I don't want this to sound bad but looking at what the producers did, we felt we could manage ourselves. We kept changing producers so the producer didn't know what we wanted so it would take a quite a lot of time. By doing it ourselves it was quicker. So you all get together and decide on things? K: Yes For example, whose idea was the racial tune in the middle of Hydra? K: That was me. You Kaorusan? So you called in someone to make that? K: There's actually a sample CD with that on it! Oh right. K: I'm not really allowed to say this but so that no one realized, we joined various bits of it up. By yourselves? K: There was a person who would do that for us. So you enjoyed making it as well as playing it this time? K: Yes Like the other Dir en grey worka/pieces, we can never read the title! (laugh). I couldn't even read MACABRE. If you don't put the reading in Japnese for us, it's difficult to introduce the songs on the radio. (laugh) All of this is thought by Kyokun? K: Well, mainly Kyokun but other members too did think about it. And in each song, there is a deep meaning to it? K: Well, sometimes yes and sometimes no! (laugh). We can't even read them ourselves! (laugh) Die introduces 'Audrey'. The uncertainty in his voice in reading it out makes Kaoru laugh the end |
