NBC warms up the audience for a new series on Pax TV tomorrow night.
Mysterious Ways, a drama about two people investigating odd incidents, will premiere at 8 p.m. Monday on NBC and run for several weeks.. Then, on Aug. 22, Pax will begin replaying some NBC shows at 8 p.m. Tuesdays before seguing into episodes not yet seen on the other network.
NBC owns a third of Pax. Mysterious Ways is the Peacock Network's way of getting programming of a higher budget and quality than Pax usually has outside of reruns of old series. The run on NBC also may help lead a new audience to Pax.
But the new show is uneven. Anthropologist Declan Dunn (Adrian Pasdar) and psychiatrist Peggy Fowler (Rae Dawn Chong) investigate questions like who saved a boy from drowning when there was no one else around. That story, in the premiere episode, revels far too much in plot twists. And the ending makes clear why this show was nicknamed Touched by an X-File.
