"The Ties That Bind"
The teaser for this episode is really great, with Miranda seemingly ready to jump from the ledge. I also loved the interaction between Declan and Miranda and thought the scene where Declan comforts her when she fears she may be expelled from school was very touching. This episode was cleverly done in that it gives us some insight into Miranda --we at least see that she has emotions and fears like everyone else--which is something we haven't seen until now, but it also doesn't reveal too much about her personal life and still leaves you curious about her, which I thought was smart of the writers. It's never a good idea to reveal too much about one of your lead characters in only the first season. It's wise of them to leave lots of room for revelations and growth of the character later on. My one complaint about the episode is that it was too predictable. They told us in the trailer for the ep that the people involved had all received transplants from the same donor, and it was clear where the story was going from the very beginning. Still, I thought it was well-acted by all involved, particularly Alisen Down as Miranda.
