Susan's Review of |

The second episode of the series delves deeper into Peggy's character, explaining the death of her husband and the reasons for her skepticism of a higher power in the universe and life after death. Her own feelings of loss cloud her investigation of Clarise, and Peggy already has her mind made up that Clarise is merely deceiving herself by believing she has a connection with her late husband before she even meets the woman. Canadian actress Gillian Barber (Clarise) seems real and sincere in her portrayal of a woman holding on desperately to the man she loves with all her heart. Rae Dawn convincingly displays Peggy's pain over the loss of her husband and her inability to have faith in a belief system as a result of that loss. Adrian is wonderful as well and his scenes with Miranda (Alisen Down) are hilarious. I appreciate that Declan is written as a charater with imperfections. (For example, he has a tendency to say the wrong thing at the wrong time and inadvertantly blurts out a question about the death of Peggy's unborn baby.) The fact that he doesn't come off as a 'smooth' leading man lends credibility to the character of Declan and to the show as a whole. Another great episode!! |
