Susan's Review of
Episode 1
"Amazing Grace"

Wow!  That's all I can say about this first episode.  This is the one that got me hooked.  This episode was well-written and touching.  The introduction to the characters flowed smoothly and naturally and didn't seem "staged" as so many pilot episodes do.  Declan and Peggy both came off as interesting and complex people, and were immediately likable.  Declan's explanation to Peggy for his interest in "miraculous phenomena" (his re-counting of the story of his avalanche rescue) seemed very sincere and realistic.   Peggy seemed both warm and professional and I think she's one of the best characters written for women in quite some time.  I liked the ending  and have to admit I didn't see it coming, which says a lot because most of the endings on television  are usally predictable.  Natalie Maine's version of "Amazing Grace" was beautiful and LOTS of people have written to ask me who performed the song, which tells me that I'm not the only person who was touched by it.  The pilot definitly served it's purpose for me...which means it left me wanting to see more of the characters.
