The town of Lynchbany, home to all and none, full of thieves, scoundrels, and
adventurers.
We decide how to divide the Ogre's treasure to ensure that everyone is restocked
with provisions including magic items, as well as taking a boon for ourselves.
Without much conversation it is decided to divide and conquer:
Rain, our flighty Halfling heads to the Broken Claw for another bought of
gambling and is hired on by Sal the barkeep as an additional bouncer.
Talla and E'Ze go to the Alchemist shop to restock on medicine, magic and a
weapons check.
Krocker retires to the Church for some recuperation and a restock on his
religious pamphlets.
Gregor meets up with Nissa for information on a decent coin lender where he can
trade our loot into easier to deal with coins.
Once everyone is fully stocked we head for the under city. Before we can go very
far we are approached by S'stress, a snake like woman who scans the group to
memorize not only our scent, our belongings, and our overall abilities based on
what we are carrying and our movement. Once she is satisfied she leads down
further into the under city to meet, Sark. There is a connection between them,
but we are not entirely sure what it is.
Our first sight of Sark is simply a human head, which is good looking, until he
raises out of the water and has a snake body, with no arms, his tail is barded
with stingers.
Sark looks the group over and instructs S'stress to take Krocker to a different
room. We don't hear any screams of protest from Krocker; Sark speaks to us in a
calm indifferent manner. He knows that he would likely win a battle with us,
without his reinforcements.
Sark informs us that his minions will not harm us for our passage through his
territory, however, he will not guarantee a safe return.
S'stress brings Krocker back as Sark is finishing his diatribe. Krocker looks
the same with only a half smile on his face.
S'stress then leads us through the dug out tunnels of the under city until we
come to a large Court yard type room with two others paths leading to it. We
notice that along the only solid wall is a coffin. S'sress informs us that a
group of Zombies are headed this way, and to beware some of them are
intelligent, before she leaves us to prepare for the coming battle.
We have enough time to seek out a few good spots before our foes arrive. The
Zombies are lead by a Wizard known as Sarzec. Within moments we have defeated
the majority of Sarzec's zombie army only to see Sarzec disappear. The few
remaining zombies either run away or are taken care of. The Halfling, who is
surprisingly strong for her size opens the coffin with Talla's help. Laying
peacefully inside is Simon, the vampire we have come to see. As he opens his
eyes he laughs at us. He was mirth even though it was at our expense. Only then
did we ask him about the Book of Thasmudyian. Simon has the book, but he won't
let us have it. Instead he relates how a copy was made and that the book is in
the Citadel of the Hawk.
Still chuckling Simon sends us on our way, through the back route of his lair,
up through the church we burned earlier in our flight from mutated zombies.
We take turns climbing up and out of the pit which opens up on the lowest level
of the church. E'Ze panics (she says it was an elaborate plan to sacrifice
herself, yah right) when four Stone Golems come to life and she sprints through
a room containing forty golems of crystal and stone. As E'Ze hastily moves
through the room only to reach the stone door at the far end; each of the forty
golems come alive. Realizing what is happening E'Ze races back to the party, but
now the damage is done and we are pursued by forty-four golems. We barricaded
ourselves in the room, just long enough to dispatch eleven of them, before
everyone escapes back down into the pit and Simon's lair.
Still chuckling, Simon explains that if we wish to wait until night he will
teleport us to the city under two conditions. The first, we can tell no one of
this entrance to his lair and the second, we must deliver a message to
Choov'ko'pec, "stay away from his lair."
Thus ends another day for our band of intrepid adventurers.
