Dear Diary:

It appears the group was busy while I was studying and researching. They were directly tied to the huge fire that burned down and entire section of the docs, which promptly broke any attempt to study or research and I ended up helping with the fire damage control parties.

I have no idea what happened down there, but it has something to do with Pic Tooth's attempts to kill Garek that failed due to the intervention of demons set loose on this mortal realm from the Book of Keeping. Somehow Mr. tombs is involved with this entire incident, but how we have no idea. I doubt that he is as neutral as the rest of the party believes.

The party really took a beating when I wasn't there. Maybe that will teach them to go running off without their best mage, or maybe they need to hire a better mage for such endeavors.

Afterwards, the Prefect gathered everyone, even me, to go over the details. needless to say he was into pleased with the problem at hand. I forget the details (I am truly tired of all these social swing ding bullshit moments that have no real lasting impact into the future. Whatever....

Dear Diary:

After days of studying and researching and dealing with the numerous interruptions from the party, keep, and various demonic entities I was albe to finally finish my studies. Fortunately, most of the interruptions all seemed to have happened within the same period of time. The rest of the time was uneventful.

Afterwards, we gathered our supplies and needed materials and we were off to the caves and the hidden temple. MY gut told me we were not ready, and I should have listened. I even prepared my last will and testament to parents and a past life I do not remember. Maybe my past isn't necessary, but I certainly desire it.

Getting through the caverns was uneventful, that should have been the first sign. Then we just walked right up to the enormous temple ruins filled with hordes of dretch, demons, and demonic vroc; WHY?! I tell ya we should have sent the rogue prior to the rest of us just walking right up to it. I am getting tired of just walking right into the abysmal dungeons of hell.

The hordes of dretch moved in on us. They were on us in mere moments. Then some demon by a mere gesture of their will they summoned an unholy flame strike on us. Striking all but the barbarian and Herb cause they rushed in on the hordes of dretch. We had no hope against such unrelenting power (5d6 Fire and 5d6 Unholy Power; Dex save DC 28 for half). Needless to say we were all severely injured, but the illusionist was down. Then the vroc teleported directly on us, before we even had a chance to regroup or gather our forces.

The cleric (Bob) moved to help the illusionist and Raven, but was only able to get to Raven, before he was assaulted by one of the teleporting vroc. I tossed a fireball at the horde near the barbarian before they were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of dretch and demons. Then I was assaulted by vroc. Suddenly, the chamber seemed to be engulfed in a second unholy fire strike. We were very fortunate that the cleric was built of hardier stuff than most. Raven managed to get a potion into the illusionist while the cleric healed her (I swear he was near death, yet still standing) and the illusionist managed to get a ice wall around them, but only to have it destroyed by another unholy fire strike. The cleric put up a circle of protection against the evil only to have it destroyed by a combination of dispel magic spells from the demons.

We continued to fight, but we had to use a lot of potions and scrolls just to keep away from the vrocs (gaseous form, etherealness, and more), while the rest continued to hold off the hordes. They had us against the ropes in overtime and they were tearing us apart. It was hopeless. We didn't stand a chance, but somehow the barbarian & Herb kept on going and actually managed to take out one of the demons. We were barely able to hold the vrocs off of us, we would no more than set up a dome of ice and it was destroyed by their overwhelming magic (10th level at will abilities vs. our limited 5th to 7th abilities which they had spell resistance, damage resistance, and immunities to our most powerful abilities). We couldn't get a moment to regroup.

It was dark, gloomy, and down right painful to watch, but I was able to move away from the vrocs with a series of spells, scrolls, and dangerous maneuvers (either foolish or desperate was more like it). Then out of nowhere the illusionist took out an entire patch of dretch. Raven managed to kill one of the vrocs, but we still had to deal with more along with their magic mirrors. Unfortunately, our best magic was not effective against the demons due to their immunities, spell resistance, and various damage resistances. There was just too many of them against our dwindling resources and lack of effective abilities.

Then, a merelith appeared and ended the hostilities against us. The vrocs, dretch, and demons all stopped and left the battlefield. We were regrouping while healing ourselves (fortunately the gods were with us, but we used up too many of coveted freebie deaths). The merelith talked to us and appeared to offer us a way out of this impossible situation and all we had to do was simply kill an undead mage-assassin and return the evil book with numerous demon names within and on top of it the merelith would give us our most desired wishes. We didn't even have time to agree to the terms and she just made it so. Yah, like we had any other choice, but to run the course and see if we could possibly get through it with some of our skin tact. You et what you get when you play with a CK who remembers the good old days of a GM's TPKs, even good people are evil ;)

I don't remember much of the conversation, but I don't have a good feeling about the conversation. As a matter of fact the conversation actually makes me sick just to think about. it.

We returned back to the keep and I (neither could Pic Took and Lady Raven) couldn't stand being around anybody, so I just went off to a quiet place of contemplation and finished by final letter to my past. Its over, all we can do is finish the play and be the pawns we were drawn into. I can only say this, the only use of a tanar'ri is death!

Kill them, Kill them ALL!
