Dear Diary:
After taking care of the last dungeon we headed back to
town. I immediately went off to begin my research and studying of the newly
acquired spells and handed off the gems to Gregor to exchange for coin. Herb
spent a lot of time at the Bishop's place drinking ale and telling tales, I
think. He never did really tell us what he did with his time. Then again you
never can tell what a bunch of monastic 'brothers' are doing together;) Gregor
spent time looking for 'that guy' I believe he called him JD (John Doe) from his
youth who works at the keep. Raven went off to polish her skills with the
Corporal Nob.
They managed to get together and meet up with one of older comrades who was off
doing something for his family. He never talks about the matter, so we just
leave it at that. I believe Gregor went off to 'exchange' the gems for coins
with the merchant and came back with a sizeable sum 5970 gp. he said it was
below market value, but considering we have flooded the local market with coin,
it was acceptable. I also believe Raven and Gregor went to the Prefect's keep
were Raven found out that his soldiers were mining a new view of ore in the
mines and the merchant and soldiers were involved in a counterfeit scheme.
Interestingly enough Gregor came back with pretty much the same information, but
he wasn't in the room with the discussion. He sure is talented. Supposedly, the
mines are full of humanoids, but the Prefect wanted someone to discreetly remove
the 'vermin'. Raven accepted, but she said we had to make up our own minds.
So needless to say when they finally get back to me, I was rather upset to find
out that all of our recent cash was counterfit! Well the rest of the party
wanted to go and take care of the mines instead of taking care of the merchant.
I just hope he is still there when we get back, because if he splits town with
our stuff we won't be able to find him.
Our fist night out we were attacked by three griffons. I am willing to bet that
Herb was not on top of it and the griffon literally snatched him up, but he
won't admit he was sleeping on the job again! Damn, why always him? Maybe that
is his deity's way of testing his worth. Either way Ab went to his rescue and
Gregor was sneaking around while Raven went to flank the attacking griffon, but
two more griffons came out of nowhere and attacked both Raven and Gregor. Damn
dog didn't even bark once. I had to literally kick him to wake him up. I really
wish Ab didn't keep on feeding him all of those people scraps it makes him
rather sleepy. Well I got up and began to fire at the griffon furiously, but man
someone must have warp nearly all of my arrows for I only hit it once! Raven
really got mauled badly by the griffon so I had to resort to my magic, but even
that didn't seem to do a whole lot of damage to it. I guess Gregor was nearly
carried off, but he managed to wiggle himself loose from the griffon's claws.
Meanwhile Herb and Ab were furiously attacking the griffon, but the griffon did
a serious number on Herb. Well, we managed to overcome all three griffons, but
both Raven and Herb were seriously hurt.
We continued on after healing and managed to make it to the mine without any
trouble. We entered the mine and only 20 feet into Gregor falls directly into a
spiked pit, but he managed to avoid the spikes. Two kobolds just run over the
trap and begin firing at the party. I killed one of them and Raven leapt across
the pit and pinned one against the wall, but their buddies managed to to
surround Raven and viciously attacked her. Brother Herb attempted to leap across
the pit, but I believe his deity is not happy with his performance recently or
his continued reliance on his deity's healing abilities, because he fell flat on
his face and into the pit, just as Gregor slips his way out of the pit. Ab
shoots and kills one. I killed another one. Fortunately, luck was on our side
and we managed to take them out, but only after Raven was seriously beaten up
again. Blessed be that Brother Herb's deity granted some much needed healing.
We continued down the corridor when Gregor nearly walked into a room full of
kobolds (over 40) and he tumbled his way right out of the room faster than
humanly possible even with a fiery sword. Fearlessly Raven stormed her way into
the room slashing down kobold after kobold, while the rest of the party played
back and forth attacks with the kobolds. I won't even mention what happened to
me (how in the world does a master work arrow split down the middle and let
alone the fact that someone must have used an unseen servant on my sword because
it leapt over 10 feet behind me the next round). Needless to say both Brother
Herb and Lady Raven were pounded on by the kobolds and the rest of us also were
hurt during the fight, but we did manage to kill them all but a few children.
Which we left to fend for themselves.
We managed to find a store room full of food supplies and the remains of
previous human victims. So we decided to piton ourselves into the room for the
night and hope we are not discovered. Hush, we need to be quiet.
Hey, what does this say? (Explosive Ruins 20d6)...
Kill them, Kill them ALL!
