Journal Log: 01-28-08
Dear Diary:
I can almost feel the warmth of the sun on my face. It feels good, but the cool air reminds me I may not feel the warmth again. What is that awful smell, I open my eyes and I am clearly reminded that I am not on the surface, but underneath in a dark, damp, and cold dungeon with the stench of death all around us. We rested over night in the the room were we rescued the girls. It appears the girls made it through the night, but the hired help were not pleased they could not handle the goods.
We prepared ourselves for the worst. We proceeded to check out the rest of the areas we didn't check out previously. As we entered a room full of females and children I cast a sleep spell on the back, while the rest proceeded to storm on in and hack nearly everything up. Afterwards we discovered numerous names, ancient demonic stuff carved into the floors. We argued over what to do with the remaining hatchlings, but could really decide. So we left, but I sealed the doors with a few extra iron stakes. Down the hall was a bathing room which magically left you clean after you left the water and dry! It felt really nice not having to smell like dungeon.
We were all tired and much of our supplies gone, so we decided to head back to town and re-supply and come back. When we approached the top we were totally surprised by a demonic Vroc. It scared all the hired help, girls, cleric, fighter away and proceeded to attack the rogue. Gregor put up a valiant fight, but the Vroc shredded him viciously. Bleeding all over he ran, then Herb charged the Vroc after gaining strength from his deity. I stepped back and nailed it with a few shots, but Herb was not protected by his deity very well this day and the Vroc gutted him. Fortunately, the Lady Raven charged her way back and and managed to keep him off of Brother Herb. I ran in and grabbed him and pulled him back. It took considerable amount of time to put his guts back in (literally), but I managed and left there while I continued to fire at the Vroc. Finally my Lady defeated it with a mighty blow.
We gathered our wounded, lost, and even the ones who did not want to return. Then we spent a week traveling back to the keep. Fortunately, we didn't encounter anything. Gregor and I went to the jeweler and traded our found riches, but we lost a great deal on the value of the gems, because Gregor did not want to bargain. Fortunately, I was able to convince the shop owner into an exclusive deal for an additional +10%. We were definitely taken on that deal, but I didn't have a whole lot to work with. Lady Raven went back got drunk and well took the evening off on her back (or is that on top:) Brother Herb went off to the church and probably pleaded heavily with his deity for his life, which he fortunately intervened when the Vroc nearly left for dead. Pick Tooth went off and drank up a storm. The next day we gathered our supplies and headed back to the dungeon to finish what we started.
It appears the rest of the dungeon was empty, But we encountered a Otyguh (shit monster). Boy did that stink, no literally it stank so bad I could not retain my cookies. It took a lot of effort, but we managed to kill it. Then we found two guys in a heated discussion, Tarin and Kus. Gregor snuck up on Tarin and struck a devastating blow, followed up by Lady Raven and Brother Herb. I even managed to land a few arrows and my last arrow found its mark, Tarin was dead. Before the crew finished off Kius, I managed to strike a deal with him for his life if he agreed to give us some information. I agreed, lawful evil bastard that he was, but he did agree so I kept my end of the bargain. I lowered my bow and allowed him to speak, fortunately the rest of the crew managed to retain themselves and they didn't strike him down. He served the wizard Valus who was doing research, and we interrupted his research. He lost control over his summoned Vroc. After he drove us away he sent these two brothers back to continue the search. Valus hired others, but the brothers would not speak of them, except for a priest of Cuthbert. Which we found his body in the keep, under a pile of shit. It appears they may have found a Hezeru (some type of demon in the quarry). It appears that Valus made a deal with the lizard men and that Valus was in league with the ancient cult of Tharisdon. It appears Kius has trained the the daughter of the Prefect in the teaching of Tharisdon. Unfortunately, Kius would not speak of the deal with the three girls, but he did strike a bargain with us for a wand of healing.
Well, we let him go. Unfortunately, that will lead into a lot of trouble down the road for our team. His type of evil never goes away, they just seem to get stronger and return with a vengeance.
Kill them, Kill them ALL!
