Dear Diary:
I don't have a lot of time to write this, so I will have to
be brief. After recovering from our initial foray into the ruins and being
driven back we spent 2 days evading the search parties and scouting patrols,
healing up, and re-thinking our strategy.
We did not go back the same way, but we did use the previous information about
the swamps and patrols. We finally arrived at the ruins and only found 2 guards.
'Gregor Pic Tooth' attempted to take out one of the guards, but he ran into a
bit of trouble. Fortunately, the Brother Herb and one of the guards backed him
up and they took him out without inference. Then he snuck up and took out the
other guard on the tower. After disposing of the bodies we head down the tower's
staircase. We entered a room with some type of portal. We explored a corridor
and encountered 2 lizard men and 3 lizard women. We managed to defeat them, but
the room was very damp and I broke a bow string.
Afterwards we entered another room, but it was flooded with water and a
composite longbow was not a good choice. There we reencountered the 3 females
that escaped from the first encounter along with 4 additional lizard men and a
giant crocodile. We managed to defeat them without too much effort, but I wasn't
able to help as much as I would like to have helped since I couldn't use my
composite longbow (too wet). So I did what I could with my broadsword.
Fortunately, we check inside the croc and found additional treasure which it
ate.
That was all that was available on that level, so we headed back to the portal
room and used it to explore a different section/level. Gregor Pic Tooth went
first, then the Lady Raven, and the Brother Herb. I followed afterwards, but the
hirelings didn't follow directions and entered too soon after me and almost
ended up being a part of me. I arrived while the rest of the party was combating
2 lizard men. We killed them and began to explore. We encountered another room
occupied with 6 lizard men and another giant croc. The lizard men were tough,
but the croc was ferocious it nearly ate the Lady Raven in a single bite, but
fortunately she managed to struggle her way out. She was nearly dead, but Gregor
Pic Tooth gave her a much needed potion and the Brother Herb additional curing
spells. His deity was being generous today. I managed to get a few hits in with
an adopted spear since I was nearly out of spells after using my sleep spell on
two of the lizard men. Finally, we managed to kill the croc and found a
partially eaten elf in its stomach.
Then we pressed on and found the chieftain, 2 guards, and a shaman in a room
with 4 captured girls. Gregor Pic Tooth went ahead and managed to maimed one
enough to draw them out into a open room and forcing them to keep their shaman
behind the rest. It worked pretty well, but it wasn't without serious effort on
both parts. We killed them all, but at some serious expense in resources and
blood. We did however find more treasure, a couple of magical rings (Protection
and Jumping), a magical broad sword, and a few potions.
We have decided to stay in this room for protection and rest. Hopefully we can
heal up and get these poor women out before their killed. Interestingly enough
the women are related to the prefect!
The chamber appears to be some type of lecture hall. It was Rary's probably set
up as a small trading school. I believe Mordekain destroyed the school, but
Valace traveled through the Barrier Peaks. He was a reputable mage, known for
fire magic missiles and was linked to Euges, evil to the core.
Well, I need to get some rest and help secure out hideout. I also need to study
for tomorrow's needed spells.
Kill them, Kill them ALL!
