It was just five
normal teens trying to make it through high school with above a “C” average
when it all changed. No, I’m not talking about that change. This is far
stranger. Each one had a tale to tell and each had found out that Smallville
wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. On the first day of school it all begins.
Coming into the doors and greeting old
friends or making new ones, we find our heroes in the commons each a separate
tables or just coming in the door. Quickly gathering their things together they
all meet in the hall entering their first class, English II. They are fast
friends and by the time they sit down they have all become well acquainted.
Sitting near to each other our heroes sneak in a quick word while doing work.
During that time a jock by the name of Bobby (Bob) comes strolling up to Hope
and begins serenading her with hackneyed pickup lines and is shot down several
times. Finally giving up he turns to who else but the head cheerleader Debbie,
who wasn’t to comforting.
Eventually separating for second block
they check their schedules and see that they all have lunch at the same time.
As such they choose to reconvene then. At lunch they all sit at the same table,
which you suddenly realize, is populated by mostly female group members with
only Dante, the demon hunter to be of the opposite sex. As of yet they do not
yet realize their true similarity. As lunch wears on an older gentleman strides
up to the group and begins to whisper in her ear. None hear exactly what he
said but whatever it was is was mace worthy as Hope, the slayer, gives him a
face full of tear gas. Needless to say she and the groupie (clamed it was her
suggestion) spent the rest of the day in suspension. At the end of the day Tristy, Dante, and Ruby all say that hope and Glen should
join them for a tutoring group after school around six.
While out, Tristy
goes to one of her favorite places in Mauston: The Hatch Public Library, while
Glen and Ruby head off to her house. Hope merely trots home to help out her
grandma. Tristy and Hope have a somewhat dull
afternoon Glen and Ruby discover just how insane her foster family is. The
minute they are out of Glen’s brand new Hearse Ruby’s foster mother is out and
fuming at how Glen is dressed (which is in all black leather with Goth high
heels with a rather reveling vest on) saying that proper women should be
covered up completely (their Muslims by the way). To make matters worse five of
Ruby’s foster siblings had just spotted Glen and were now gathered by the door.
As Glen and Ruby entered the five began to gather around Glen separating her
from Ruby and she shoved her towards the bedroom door. As things start to get
out of hand Ruby thinks fast and says that their father was calling them. This
shagged off all but one who was now actually moving into the room apparently at
Glen’s lead. The door closed and a faint sound of a book snapping shut followed
by a sudden “thud” sound like a body hitting the floor. Glen then comes walking
out and the two are off to the school. All of our hero’s now converging on the
school they all make it their just in the nick of time. Through the hallways
and down corridors they finally make it to their meeting place the channel 9 broadcast
area. Hope, Tristy, Ruby, Glen, and Dante all go into
the dark and flick on a light switch, which reveals that same person who
approached Hope at lunch going through a broom closet. Startled he quickly hops
to his feet a stake in hand. Realizing that it is a group of students he lowers
his weapon. Addressing the group he reveals that he was hoping to see us all
gathered together and that he sort of needed all of our heroes to help him and
Hope. At this Hope begins to bolt across the room to leave shouting something
about this all being a bunch of nonsense. Cut of by Dante she is forced to
listen to the rest of what this man has to say. Clearing his through he
continues to tell a story about how he was what they called a watcher and that
Hope was a Slayer (prompting hope to, yet again, try and leave forced back by
Dante) he finally tells that all of our heroes have some great part to play in
this huge battle for control of Earth and with a few skeptical looks the do
finally agree to help. Looking as cheerful as ever, the mysterious man
introduces himself a Mr. Katzfy, or just K. Moving
swiftly to the broom closet he grabs an armful of stakes and begins to pass
them out to everyone. Then with the ever present “let’s go” they where all told
to head for the carnival which was in town this week. However, just as they are
about to leave, Tristy suddenly fell to the floor.
Grabbing some coats Hope slips one under her head and begins to try and wake
her up. After about three minutes she comes to, everyone looking quizzically at
her. Getting to her feet again she looks around and without another thought
says “fainting spell.” Glen gives the Watcher a stern stare and tells him that
every time that happens something bad always happens. Shrugging and leading
them out they all leap into Glen’s hearse and where off to the show. Parking a
fair way out of sight they make their way onto the fairgrounds stakes hidden
beneath clothing. Standing in the very middle of the fair K turns to Hope and
tells her that she can root out demons if she only focuses on it. Closing her
eyes she suddenly bundles up and points to a couple standing on the edge of the
grounds. Dante and Hope both step forward and lung themselves at the male
vampire. Both stake him before he can say “oh no.” The woman begins to flea but
Hope quickly takes of after her as well ending her reign just as quickly.
People begin to gather round and wondering what was going on when they spy the
watcher filming the whole thing dispersing once more the heroes gather together
and begin asking Hope if there are any more around. Pointing to the House of
Mirrors, they all turn. End.
