This is our first day at school, am a bit excited but of course it always goes with a little bit of the so called fear. We've been taken to a hotel from the airport by the academy they already arranged things for us there. So we walk forth from the hotel to school that morning. It took us time to find the academy, primarily WE DON'T KNOW THE PLACE, so it was totally an exploration. It was quite funny in the sense that no one seems to understand us. Not much of the people here speaks
English. So we end up using signs and the good thing is we have the brochure from the school, so everytime we ask we just show the thing. The last count I have was, hmmm its was about 12 people we talk to till we arrived at the academy. We we're overwhelmed with the heartwarming welcome they have for us. First we've got early so we waited for the Dean of the Maritime Studies. We discuss things why we are so late. The best part is He was our professor in our first subject (subjects are done in week or two). We have given materials for the said subject. The class was nice the topic was well delivered. But of course there are still questions arises, but most of them has to do with the language things. Because our professor was an
Arab, so some of them was having problems with the understanding of the terms sometimes.
We have discuss about PRICE MECHANISM. How price mechanism operates
in relation to the different cost structures of units in any
industry. In the price theory, if the price mechanism in any
industry is accurately to allocate resources, price must equal to
long range marginal cost. in the long run, overhead costs must be
covered or manufactures will stop production, but they need to be
always covered. Normally, in the short run, some surplus over
variable costs will be earned. Sometimes this surplus will rise
above and sometimes fall below overhead costs. It will fluctuate
with the state of demand, increasing when an active demand allows
prices to be raised, and decreasing when demand falls away and
prices have to be reduced. in the long run, overheads are true
costs. This is just a scrap from our topic, just for your info, we
have given a 35 pages manual, just for the said day.
The class was finished at around 2:00 PM. After class we decided to look for a flat where we can stay. For about 2 hours of looking, we've found a nice one. It has 3 master bedrooms, spacious dining room, hotel like living room, one complete set of perfect bathroom and the kitchen
I've ever seen. We have television sets, two refrigerators, telephones and computers. We've got this place for only
250 US Dollars a month, perfect isn't it? It's like we're living in a life we've always wanted. You know what's missing a wife, hehehe. We considered this place home already, of course we'll be spending our lives here for the next seven months. But one thing
weird about this day was, WE HAVEN'T DRINK WATER...till the next day.. going to sleep now... |
