Training
This page is to show what me and Sky are working on and who we are working with.
Currently:
Sky and I were working with Diane Ward of Deep Woods farm but since we moved we find it hard to get back for a lesson. Diane worked with us to get suppleness and bend. We are riding at first level but are showing at training level.
I am currntly working at a Paint and Quarter Horse breeding farm. I am learning alot about handling foals, yearlings and broodmares. I am also traveling alot to sales with the farm.I broke 3 horses on my own this year and starting longeing yearlings.
Past:
We worked with Ida Anderson who is a AHSA "S" judge. When I didn't bring Sky with me I rode "Skeeter" a big gray Trakainer trained to grand prix level.
The first year I had Sky we worked with Sonja Hardy of Long Meadow Farm. She basicaly broke him to ride and took him through his first show season. We rode hunt seat all year and he was great at it.
I went to the University of Findlay the fall of 2001. The work was hard but I learned how to take care of horses and mastered showmanship. There was plenty of riding time with world class instructors such as Clark Bradly a world champion reiner. I was also on the vaulting team there. I would love to return someday.
In the summer of 2002 I went to work at a saddlebred farm in Ravina New York. Although I wasn't there long enough to learn to ride saddle seat I learned how to turn out a horse for a show. I clipped, bathed, groomed and saddled the horses for the riders. Some were world champion horses and riders. I even met a Playboy Bunny and one of the Fab 5 from Queir Eye at the stable.
