Democracy certainly isnt something you can come up with in a matter of days, it takes years. Democracy has been changed and played with throughout the courses of history and is still not perfect. The Magna Carta was written in 1215 AD because of disagreements between Pope Innocent III and King John. The Magna Carta required all the kings of England to renounce certain rights, and accept that the will of the king could be bound by law. The influence of Magna Carta can be seen in the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. Almost all common law states have been influenced by Magna Carta which makes it one of the most important legal documents in the history of democracy. The Divine Right of Kings is a political and religious document stating that the leader of a nation owes his rule to the will of God. It means that the right to rule was anointed by God (or gods). The role of Democracy might still change in the future because there are still some things wrong with it today, and it probably will never be perfect. |
