| Character - Individuals who take part in the action of a story. Main character (protagonist) - Events of the story center on the most important characters. Minor character - Less prominent characters. Dynamic character - Main characters that undergo change. Static character - Characters that remain the same. Setting - The time and place where events occur. Plot - Chain of related events that take place in a story. Exposition - Lays the groundwork for the plot and provides the reader with essential background information. Inciting Incident - Event or action that starts the conflict. Rising Action - As the story progesses, complication usually arise. Climax - Turnign point of the action, moment when interest and intensity reach their peak. Falling Action - Consists of the events that occur after the climax. Denouement (Resolution) - The tangles of the plot are utied and mysteries are solved. Theme - An important idea or message conveyed by a work of fiction. |
