2. Hugh3 MACDONALD of Glenmore was born circa 1645, 2nd son of Sir James Mor2 MACDONALD, 2nd Baronet of Sleat and Margaret MACKENZIE, daughter of Sir John MACKENZIE of Tarbat . He married (1) Anne ROBERTSON, daughter of Alexander ROBERTSON of Struan, Chief of the Clan Robertson, in 1671 and (2) Katherine MACDONALD, daughter of Colonel Allan MACDONALD of Kytrie (Cadet of Glengarry), in 1682. a) Alexander4 MACDONALD b) Angus4 MACDONALD of Penbeg c) Janet4 MACDONALD married John MACDONALD of Lochgarry, brother of Glengarry. d) Margaret4 MACDONALD married Donald MACQUEEN, Minister of Snizort. e) Rev. Hugh4 MACDONALD, 1st Minister of the Parish of Portree, born after 1682, was educated in Kings' College, Aberdeen, Scotland, graduating in 1719. In 1726 he was presented by the Crown to the Parish of Portree. He married his first cousin, Elizabeth MACDONALD, daughter of John MACDONALD of Balconie, in 1729. They had a total of 15 children, only 6 of whom are known. He died in 1756.
(1) Major Alexander5 MACDONALD of Courthill, Loch Carron and Tacksman of Monkstadt, Skye married Janet MACDONALD, daughter of Major Alexander MACDONALD of Cuidrach and Annabella MACDONALD. (Annabella was the half-sister of the Scottish heroine Flora Macdonald). He died on 19 November 1855. (a) Alexander6 MACDONALD died unmarried. (c) Elizabeth6 MACDONALD married Captain Alexander MACLEOD of Borlin. She died in 1872 without issue. (d) Alice Marion6 MACDONALD married Dr R. MILLAR of Stornoway.
