Steps and Baggage Floor
Above, I measured for the pilot holes for mounting the step to the fuselage. The plans called for the second column of rivets AFT, to be located in assembly to match up with a vertical Z channel. I found I had to locate the column 1/8" more FWD than shown on the plans. I found this to be true for both left and right steps. Also the rivets in that column had to be carefully located vertically, as to miss the existing rivets already in the channel. Above, shows the pertrusion of the step through the floor web and rib, then terminating in the nylon block at the second rib. Also as shown in the picture,  I removed the platenuts on the side baggage wall (this was done as part of the quickbuild portion) so I could get behind it to buck AN470 rivets. The plans allow you to not remove the cover and use blind rivets, but I thought the AN470s would look better.
The right and left steps installed on the inside, with the nylon blocks bolted into place. I re-primed the areas I cut or otherwise disturbed in the process. Also you can see the steps are primed.
This is the right side step. Here you can see the area I primed before mounting the step. In the second column AFT you can see the other rivets in the fuselage I had to make sure I missed. This is the left side step. Here the step installation is complete. I think these rivets look a lot better than blind rivets, so I was glad I went to the extra trouble to open up the baggage area wall.
