When we first saw the blue hen mare in her stall at Celtic Incorporated,we knew she would be a phenomenal edition to our breeding program. After a brutal bid, Myrtlewood purchased Solitude for $380,000. Solitude was worth every bit of penny spent on her, for her pedigree and produce record alone are just shy of brillant. Solitude's sire Cox's Ride earned $667,172 on the track and won 11 graded stakes races, including the Metropolitan Handicap. Cox's Ridge was well known for his hugely appearence and long stride, but he also achieved fame as a sire of stakes winners. Some of the stallions must talented grade I winners include Cardmania, winner of the Breeder's Cup Sprint, Sultry Song, a millionaire and triple grade I winner, 1985 Champion Older Male Valandingham, and Twilight Ridge, winner of the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies. Solitude's dam, Brave Raj was a fabulous racehorse herself, being crowned 1986 Champion Two Year Old Filly. After winning the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Fillies by five and a half lengths, Brave Raj had earned $911,150. This was an all time record high earnings for any two year old filly at the time. Brave Raj later produced Russian Tango, whom in turn gave birth to graded stakes winner Eurosilver.

Solitude is a fine looking speciman, but her most refined feature is her eloquent head, which speaks her personality through those shining dark eyes. She is moody like most thoroughbreds, and will give an occasional bite or kick at any groom who strays to close to her sensitive ears. Under saddle, she has a graceful stride and flowing movement. She is currently training with her previous owner, Katie, as a potential show horse. As a broodmare though, Solitude has certainly shined. Her first foal, Anarchy is one of SIM's hottest preformers on the racetrack. He is currently a ten time grade I winner and multiple million dollar earner. Anarchy was named 2004 Winter Reserve Horse of the Year. Alesserformofgovernment, Solitude's second foal sired by the great King Arthur, is currently a graded stakes winner. Solitude's other foals include Alonea grade I placed colt owned by Nikky and the promising yearling filly Lady Camelot; whom is sired by King Arthur and is owned by Myrtlewood Thoroughbreds.
