Commentary:
As soon as we saw Awaken up for sale, we purchased her right away. What was not like about the gorgeous bay mare and her fine bloodlines? Awaken is one of Myrtlewood's oldest mares at age twelve, but she has outstanding breeding potential. "Awe's" sire, Mr.Prospector, earned $112,171 in his racing career and set two track records for 6 Furlongs. One at Gulstream Park and the other at the old Garden State track. Mr.Prospector really shined though as a sire, he is often called one of the greatest stallions of all time. Awaken's dam, Alluvial, was a reknown Broodmare of the Year. Alluvial's dam was 1957 Champion 3yo Filly Bayou, and her sire was Buckpasser, a Horse of the Year and champion in his own right. Through Alluvial, Awaken is a half sister to Horse of the Year Slew'O'Gold, whom earned $3,533,534 on the track and Coastal, a respected racehorse who won the 1979 Belmont stakes while defeating the grear Spectacular Bid in the process.

Around the barn, Awe is a rather snippy mare. She refuses to eat if there is so much as a straw in her feed or water trough. Her character has been an influence in her offpsring such as Akanta, a spirited filly who earned over $1,000,000 on the track as a grade 2 winner. Awaken has only one other foal, but considering her age, we hope she can be bred atleast 5 more times before pensioning.

Previous Owner's Comments: 'Awe' is a very well bred Thoroughbred mare. She has been used mostly as a broodmare but when I purchased her she did have 540 points from Equine and Canine Fancy, sadly there was not a complete show record to go with the points so we have started her again with a clean slate. She has a great temperment and is a wonderful mother who produces foals that can really run!
