Method

Scald 3 cups of milk. Mix cornmeal with remaining milk. Add this to scalded milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low. Cook 5 min. Remove from heat. Add butter, spices, vanilla, raisins and mix. Add egg. Pour into greased baking dish. Set dish in a baking pan of hot water. Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours.
