1\2 cup of buttermilk (whole or 2% milk works too)
1 teaspon of vinegar
Herbs of your choice
Into a biscuit trough or bowl dump 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of shortening. Cut in herbs using 1/2cup fresh herbs or 1/4 cup dry.
Then, mix 1/2 cup of buttermilk. If you do not have buttermilk accessible, use 1/2 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vinegar. Pat out. Do not overwork the dough or it will get tough. Bake at 500 degrees F for 10 minutes or until golden brown
Herbs that work well: anise, caraway, celery, chives, fennel, marigold, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rose, rosemary, savory, thyme, watercress, onion, or garlic. Try experimenting with different herbs.
