RETT SYNDROME
A WHOLE NEW WORLD

Hi! Welcome to my website. My name is Renee Succa and I have Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder in which i appeared to be developing normally until the age of 15 months and then the regression started. I never was able to walk by myself. I did say a few words, but they've been gone for years. I do communicate with my bright blue eyes and my smiling face as well as some vocalization. Not much was known about Rett Syndrome back then so I was given a very broad diagnosis of developmentally delayed. It wasn't until I was 8 years old that my Mom could at least put the frustration aside when she was given the diagnosis.
I live at home with my Mom and stepdad Mike in Southampton, Pennsylvania. Boy, that sounds funny, because to me, he is Dad! And the best Dad ever! I have a brother, Anthony, who is 27 years old. He lives in Michigan and is attending graduate school. Prior to that , he graduated Northern Arizona University magna cum laude, so I really don't get to see him much.
I "graduated" school in 2002, which made me very sad. I loved going to school! I was attending an adult day program until some medical issues kept me from attending. Soon, all the loose ends will be tied and I can go back.
