Assets

Strength:

My greatest strength would be my ability to communicate. As a public affairs specialist in the Navy i was responsible for the strategic communication with all outside entities to communicate the Navy message efficiently. These outside entities consisted of major sports teams such as the three local teams the St Louis Cardinals, the Blues, and the former Rams. In addition to sports team I was responsible for effective communication to local area high schools during our Navy Weeks Lastly, I would communicate with local news channels and organizations during positive and negative events that may have impacted the Navy image.

Weakness:

My biggest weakness is follow through and procrastination. I usually find myself waiting to the last minute to start working on a project and when I do I usually forget to do a follow up. These are life skills that I am constantly working on and trying to improve myself.

Personality

Team Project Coordination

I would rate myself as very good in coordinating team projects. One of my jobs in the Navy was to coordinate two Navy Weeks a year, one in St. Louis and one in Kansas City. The required coordinating with groups and organizations, like the Navy Blue Angels and Leap Frogs, all around the country to ensure that each event went off without a problem.

Creativity

I would consider myself a very creative person. I am a professional photographer, videographer, and I have experience with graphic design and layout, and journalism. I worked for NATO for two years and my entire job was to design logos for their various missions. My news stories, photos and videos have been published around the world.

Communication Skills

As a journalist, editor, and supervisor, my communication skills are top notch. I believe in getting right to the point, so that what I'm trying to communicate doesn't get lost into a lot of fluff. I don't use a lot of .25¢ words when .10¢ words will do. I know how to talk to my audience to spread my message in the most efficient manner.

Analytical Thinking

I am able to think analytically, part of my experience in the Navy has helped me understand systems and how they work. I was a Xerox technician on board my first ship. After a while of fixing machines, I able to break the whole machine down into the individual systems that made the whole, diagnose the problem fix it and put everything back together.

Project Management

I have a lot of experience in project management, as a stand alone public affairs officer in the Midwest, I coordinated a total of six Navy Weeks in the St. Louis and Kansas City area. Part of my responsibility was to corrdinate with assets that are in various locations around the united states. Our band was based out of Tennessee, while the Blue Angels were out of Florida, and the Leap Frogs were stationed in San Diego. Throughout the preparation time we coordinated five school visits for the Blue Angels, more than a dozen jumps for the Leap Frogs, and 20 venues for the Navy Band to perform. All of our events went off without a hitch.

Relevant Experience

For my experience that I have that would relate to this project is my ability to find creative solutions to whatever problems that we may find. Additionally, I can act as editor to any verbage that needs to included in the project or following paper. I can utilize all of my experience from my previous work history to help find innovative solutions.
