Virgil

Virgil de Tailleur was born in the outskirts of a coastal town in France called La Rochelle. His parents, Jaques and Antoinette de Tailleur owned a small tailor shop and lived a poor but simple life. From the time Virgil was young he and his parents always believed that he too would become a tailor. He grew up working in the tailor shop spinning wool, making cloth and sewing in his parents shop. Until one day, on his 15th birthday, Virgil was sewing another cloak and he asked his father if there was more to life than just sewing. His father became very upset with him and told him that there is nothing else for him, tailoring had been in their family for three generations and he too will be a tailor.

That night Virgil went for a walk down by the docks to look at the ships that come from far away lands, and he overheard some sailors talking of great adventures. They fought sea monsters, trolls, lizard men, and dragons. There were beautiful castles and cities built in these mysterious islands. Virgil knew he had found his calling in life. He quietly stowed away in the cargo area of the ship and left his family and La Rochelle forever.

Days went by and Virgil became violently ill with seasickness and starvation until a crew member found him. Luckily for Virgil the crew member took him under his wing and persuaded the captain to allow him to stay in turn for manual labor. They sailed for months and Virgil saw nothing but water. One night at sea there was a terrible storm, and the ship was destroyed. Virgil survived clinging to a piece of the ships wreckage. He had no idea how long he drifted going in and out of conciousness, but several days later he found himself washed up on to a beach.

After Virgil regained his strength by eating fallen fruit and water from the nearby streams he set foot inland, in hopes that he would find some sort of civilization. He walked cautiously, he remembered the monsters the sailors had told him about. He walked inland until he found himself in a thick forest. Virgil was scared, he could feel the danger deep inside, and he suddenly came across an ugly creature about his size with wings, sharp teeth, and claws. Virgil ran as fast as his feet would carry him. The monster flew after him and knocked him to the ground with its claws tearing into his back.

Just as he thought it was over, like a dream three men appeared wearing colorful robes and brilliant armor, riding beautiful horses. The man in red killed the monster in one swipe with a giant axe. Virgil was told the monster was called a "cute little mongbat." The man in purple then quickly bandaged Virgil's wounds and magically Virgil felt better. These men introduced themselves to Virgil as Scorpio, Pogue Mahone, and K.O.B., he was not really sure what KOB stood for but that didn't matter.

The three men took Virgil to a beautiful town called Vesper were he finally saw the huge castles and villas he had heard of. Virgil knew that he had found the place where his adventures would begin. In Vesper the three warriors gave Virgil fencing weapons, armor and money. The warriors told Virgil they must leave, but they would be back and for him to stay near the towns and he would be safe. Virgil struggled to put on the armor they gave him, it was very heavy he was small. He then tried to swing the big axe he was given and it about knocked him down. So he tried the war mace, he could barely lift it. Then he tried the kryss, this he could handle. It was light and quick and deadly. Virgil then went about his life hunting and skinning animals to make clothes, shoes, and leather armor to sell to the local shops.

Years went by and Virgil became extremely skilled with the use of his fencing weapons. Then one day a knight came into the tailor shop and Virgil recognized him. He was Pogue Mahone the warrior dressed in purple that came to his aid when the monster attacked him. Virgil asked Pogue how he went from being a warrior to being a knight, and how could he do the same. Virgil was told it would take many hours of training and hunting, but he could do it. Virgil told him he was ready. They fought together with many other warriors and knights including his old friends Scorpio, and KOB. They taught him well and Virgil found his calling in life. With many hours of training Virgil's day soon came to become a knight. Now he wanted something to fight for and someone to protect. He was now ready to fight for and protect Queen Shieba and the members of the QSA.
