The Chronicle of Valinor
The wind is strong and cold as it blows off the bay. Overhead the dark clouds are menacing laden down with rains. The occasional flash of lightning can be seen in the distance, brilliant against the dark sky. It is as the omens had spoken, the night they all feared would come. Evil was once again come to rule the land.
Valinor had been standing on the towers flat roof looking over the lands his family has ruled for generations. Now they are being forced to move, to go to a new land. He turns to his brother Tulkas, "I really think that you should be leading the family and people to Trammel. Let me lead the troops in holding off Minax and her forces. Your place is with the people."
Tulkas looks at his brother, "You know very well that leading the Knights is my responsibility and not yours. I will defend the Abbey to the last man to buy all our people the time they need to get out of Felucca. It is how Lord British has commanded it. That is how it shall be done. Your responsibility is to the people now, make sure they make it through alive and get settled in the new lands. Lord British has promised that Trammel will exactly like Felucca except good will hold sway forever. I want our people to experience that, to live in the peace that Lord British has promised."
Valinor frowns and bows his head. He knows further argument is fruitless.
The next morning the rain is pouring down, turning the ground to mud. Valinor watches from his window as his brother leads the Knights of the Imperial Abbey to war. Once they are out of sight he turns to Elros, his oldest nephew, "Send out the riders and pass the message to gather at the tower tomorrow morning. We open the gates then."
At the break of dawn, the rain once again pouring down, Valinor stands with his two nephews and one niece. Valinor turns to Elros, "Where is Melian? She should be here."
"I could not find her and when I checked her room, her traveling cloths were gone. I fear she has gone to find her father."
Valinor sighs, "It is time." He digs a small hole and places the stone inside and covers it up. He then speaks the words of power and a copper colored gate appears and the people start to make their way through one at a time. After opening the twelfth gate, all the people had passed through and Valinor stood there alone. A noise makes him look north and he sees the standards of Minax appearing over the ridge.
He mutters under his breath, "May the Virtues guard you Melian and may you find what you seek." He then takes one more look at the tower and steps through the gate to Trammel.
