Kedryn Moonshadow

Im Kedryn Drake Moonshadow; Im 26 years old and come a rather small family. I have one older brother Kinth and a younger half sister Akhana. I never knew my father, because shortly after I was born he was killed defending our town from marauding Orcs. My mother worked so hard to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table; it was hard for her to do it alone.

When I was 5 my mother got involved with a local woodsman named Gunthar Ironhands. Kinth and I had already had a few run ins with Gunthar and knew him to be a very mean and cruel man. My brother and I tried to tell my mother about him, but she would not listen to us. Eventually we gave up trying to tell my mother about Gunthar. We figured she knew what she was doing and let it drop.

My mother and Gunthar were married soon after they started courting. Shortly after they got married my mother got pregnant with my half sister Akhana. After my mother and Gunthar had been married for about 6 months things started to change. Gunthar started to be mean to be mean to Kinth and I, but never in front of my mother. We tried to tell my what he was doing, but she would not listen to us. She thought we were just making up stories. When my half sister was due to be born that is when things started to go really wrong. There were complications and my mother died giving birth to Akhana. I was still too young to understand what had happened I thought my mother had just left so for a few years I actually hated my mother until I was old enough to understand what had happened. It was soon after that Gunthar started to get particularly mean. He pulled Kinth and I out of school, because he said he needed the help around the house, while he was out chopping wood. Gunthar used to treat us very cruelly and beat us regularly for no apparent reason. By the time I was 10 I had already sworn that I was going to make Gunthar pay for all the tormenting he had put us thru. He used to treat us like slaves and treated Akhana as though she were some how above us. My brother and I did all the chores Akhana did none, all she did was follow us around and torment us. We still tried to be nice to her hoping that would make her change but it did not, most of the time it just made things worse.

When I was 12 my brother decided that he had enough of Gunthar and his spoiled daughters tormenting and decided that we were leaving to find a better life than this he really wanted to study magic and for me to have an education. We gathered all our meager possessions and we both left for wherever we could get for the gold that we had taken from Gunthar before we left. We left and never looked back never wondered what had happened to them.

Long days in the mage's employ

Eventually after stowing away on several ships and even a few wagon caravans we made it to Britain. Immediately the need for money became apparent. My brother put off study as a mage to get a job to put me though school. He had many jobs until he got lucky and got a job working for an old mage near Britain. That mage gave us a place to stay, food, even paid Kinth money for our services.

By the time I had turned 16 I had become severely bored with school and had regular arguments with my brother about why I had to stay in school for 2 more years. One day while I was wandering around Britain after school I ran into a recruiter for Lord Britishs Army. I asked how old someone needed to be to join. The recruiter replied 16. I told him that Id be right back. I ran all the way to the old mages house to tell Kinth that I wanted to join Lord Britishs Army. After several hours of following him around and arguing he finally gave in and let me go. I will never forget the day I left Kinth looked like he thought that he would never see me again. I spent 10 years in Lord Britishs Army I have seen most of Britannia and have guarded most of the cities, but those are stories for another time.

I always maintained good contact with my brother so that when it came time for me to get out of Lord Britishs Army I would have some were to go to. About 6 months before I got out Kinth started to write in his letters about this group of people, that he called a guild, that he had meet that had taken him and were treating him like family. I was intrigued because I had learned about brotherhood in Lord Britishs Army, but family that was something else.

Finally the time came for me to leave my brothers in Lord Britishs Army and return home. Except that I had no home to return to, or so I thought. Kinth met me in Britain, and after we had greeted each other he muttered some strange words and a gate appeared before him. He just looked at me like I was daft. He said well step though the gate. I asked him where we were going and he would only reply youll see. So I stepped though the gate and appeared outside of a three story tower. I turned to Kinth and asked him where we were he replied home. I just looked at him. You mean you own this. He said no we own it. I couldnt believe it we owned a house, and not just a house.

After I had settled in and got all my stuff put away Kinth came up to me and handed me a book. He said it was a runebook and that I could recall from it. I asked what is recall. He replied that it is an easier way to travel than walking everywhere, which was new to me I was used to either walking or riding a wagon everywhere. He told me that the first rune was for the house and the second was for Queen Shiebas castle. He told me to go there and meet the Queen. Tell her you are my brother and you will be accepted. I than asked how to recall and with an exasperated look on his face he showed me how to recall. I went to the castle and there was the Queen ready to accept me into her family.

That is what QSA means to me is family. After all the troubles I had with my first family to find one so good is like a dream come true. So if any one ever messes with my family they are messing with me as well.
