Kay Leigh Dawne, Grand Arch Sorceress

While pregnant, Nadine Dawne met with a group of wizards in a mage shop in Moonglow. They carefully planned out what would happen when her child was born. If she had a boy, a mage would escort the infant to Jhelom to learn how to become a proud warrior. If Nadine had a girl, the mages and sorceresses would raise and teach her child magic.

Nadine was raised much the same way. It was a tradition in her bloodline. The men became warriors, and the women were molded into sorceresses. When she was an infant, Nadine was left with a group of mages to learn magic. Her mother and father had left Nadine to be tutored by the best. They had left her to learn without interference from an overprotective parent. Nadine remembered her childhood. It was difficult growing up without the love of a mother and father, but now she was a sorceress of great power. She wanted the same for her child.

Six weeks after being born, Kayleigh was brought to the mage shop as planned. With tears in her eyes, Nadine left her child under the care of the Sorcerer�s Guild. Nadine knew they could raise her better than herself. She is assured, however, that the child would keep her birth name, Kayleigh Dawne. Over the next few years, Nadine would on occasion shop at the Sorcerer�s Guild. At these times, she would do her best to get a glimpse of her daughter. Her child was developing into a beautiful woman. Nadine was delighted that Kay shared her same light brown hair and green eyes.

As Kayleigh developed into a young woman, she grew attached to a couple that frequented the Sorcerer�s Guild. Katrina and Xarst appeared individually as often as together, spending time with her. After a few years, Kayleigh found herself referring to them as Mother and Father, though there was no formal tie between them. On one of Xarst�s visits to the shop, she overhears a conversation between Xarst and a mage named Clyde. Xarst is inquiring about Kayleigh�s past. Clyde whispered, "A woman from the city of Avalon left Kay here. Nadine wanted her to excel. This is how we agreed things would be."

Now at the age of 17, Kayleigh Dawne is the woman and sorceress her mother dreamed she would be. She prefers wearing simple, elegant dresses rather than the dresses worn by noblewomen. She is happiest when she is gossiping with her friends Breangwen and Bell. Although Kayleigh enjoys travelling with her friends in the Queen�s Alliance, she often finds herself alone in Avalon on a quest to find the mother she never knew. She keeps her ears perked, waiting for the name Nadine Dawne to escape the lips of a common acquaintance.
