NO USE FOR A NAME
w/ YELLOWCARD / GOB / THE EYELINERS

October 11, 2002
Emo's - Austin, TX

Alright I'm pretty drunk but I'll try to make sense of this show. I went up there with my friend Joel of Seattle. We made it up there in barely enough time, but the show was in the outside stage at Emo's, and wasn't too packed, so it was cool. The Eyeliners went on first, and it was pretty much just a generic female pop-punk band, like Dance Hall Crashers, Letters to Cleo, etc. The best part though, was the singer, she was extremely hot. The guitarist wasn't that good but kept trying to play solos and stuff, including one behind her head...ehh..oh well. They were a pretty good starter, though plagued by mic problems early on. After them was Gob, pretty decent rocking band as well. The only songs I had really heard of them was some song that's on the NHL 2002 video game, and also their cover of the Stones' 'Paint it Black', which they closed their set with (with a G'n'R ending even! how quaint!) The singer looked like Pauly Shore from afar and did some awful dance moves, but oh well. They also decided to call the audience "hosers", though they themselves are canucks. The next band was Yellowcard and I had to come into the show disliking them because of their contribution to that 'Punk Goes Pop' album. Of course they played that song, some Michelle Branch cover...ehhh. They were just another generic pop-punk band, except they did have a violin player, which was kind of weird. However he was tarnished by too many big smiles and homoerotic actions, so I'll just go ahead and say they weren't very good. Finally the headliner hits the stage and they don't disappoint. They played most of the stuff from their recent 'Live in A Dive' album, and some new stuff off of 'Hard Rock Bottom'. The Misfits cover of 'I Turned Into a Martian' was excellent, and of course they closed the show with Bob Marleys' 'Redemption Song'. They did rock hard, and I'm glad I went to this show. I couldn't help myself and engaged into the pit early on into their set, and enjoyed every second of it. I remember some songs, though not in order, too bad for you.
